The problem is I’m still getting too high Entergy bills so comparing the year before without solar I paid about 3k more total. Not exact science but gave me a good idea.
There is one small detail in this entire clusterfrick that some solar companies sometimes miss. Did you sign an interconnection agreement with Entergy? A lot of solar companies don't do these. If you don't, then Entergy doesn't know that you have panels. Your meter will not be programmed for Net consumption and your rate will not be calculated on a Net rate. I believe Entergy uses the Honeywell A4 meters, so if didn't sign the agreement, you aren't getting credit for your Net on the bill, possibly. This would effect your bill.
I don't think this is your issue but something interesting is that the older meters would actually count pulses (the meters with the turning discs). If these weren't programmed net, all pulses got counted forward thus increasing bills.

Deadbeat industry, don't waste your money. 99% of solar install companies are broke dick bums.

Well considering Belljamins help, in this case he really did come to the right place.

I think the concept behind Solar Panels is that it's a big upfront expense/capex, but over time after a decade or so, it pays off because there isn't a monthly energy bill.

The worst part hasn't even hit you yet.
Wait until you have to sell this house, and potential buyers who don't listen to their wives about financing solar panels see those solar panels and the cost associated with them.
You have removed 98% of potential buyers from your pool.
...and they are extremely ugly.

I'd love to have you spend 5 minutes describing how this conversation went and how she was able to convince you to do this.

Csb time. A few years ago I was renting a room in a house my buddy owned. Previous owners had panels installed so whenever he bought it he assumed some kind of liability to pay for them. Hurricane ida comes and fricks them all up. Meanwhile I am selling roofs so I’m thinking yeah we can get this replaced quick and I can cut him a deal.
He calls and calls and calls posigen to come take these damn things off. No answer for months. He finally said frick it and I went up and took them all down myself. The roof gets replaced. We stored the panels in our yard. They finally call back and they want to come out and replace the whole roof. Sorry friend. Works been complete. He also stopped paying their bill which is why I think he called. They kept calling and calling. One day I get home and they had sent a crew out in a couple hours and put them back up.
Stop paying your bill. Take them down. frick em.

Very true for loans and cash deals.
In this case, since i've seen his enlighten portal now, he's zero export and self consuming everything it makes. I'm waiting on some more details on the system to resimulate and see what they presented in the proposal.

False claims. Not one thing they told us has happened. By my calculations I spent about 3k more last year with the panels.
Can you sue someone for making a dumb decision?

There's so many shitty installers out there that this is pretty close to true. There are good companies out there but unfortunately for this board, i don't know any of them that operate in La.
A lot of people shite on the third party owned systems (leases and PPAs) ad for good reason because they come with their own issues. But you do get a ton of consumer protections with them.
For example:
Loan - use whatever design tool you want, but whatever equipment you want on, tell the customer whatever you want, and just send me 6 pictures of the install and someone in a call center reviews them
TPO - use exactly the design tool your told with preconfigured settings, use exactly the investment grade equipment allowed, heavily restricted what you can tell the customer because they'll ask during the welcome call to spot fraud, send 80 pictures of the install and an engineer will review every system, and you get a guarantee on the production values in the contract and a warranty for 25 years.
There are companies out there that use the same process for loans as TPO, but they're rare.

It might not matter in this case because PosiGen was a different type of finco than Sunlight. Sunlight just spins these off in securities as home improvement loans. They're perfectly fine with a certain amount of defaults and it was probably worked into the price of the C rated bond they sold off to the market.

Sunlight didn’t fold, my company uses Greensky as the first option, then try Sunlight if they aren’t approved.
They spin everything off in portfolios though and don't stick around as the servicer. They still might get involved if they have to.
