Not to mention between my wife and I, we paid 9500$ in interest last year. $0 was deductible

Lol not even close to possible. $200k salary..no shot he can pay $12k month just for student loans.

Agree. 200k salary especially for a single person can come with a very high tax load. If I was some one coming out of school and have a high paying job with the student loans these kids have, I would sit down with a financial advisor. See what options are out there and work towards that.

I said making around $200k. The point was making north of $200k he could pay down those loans very quickly.

I'm about to... Got the same feelings as you

Just have to graduate and successfully practice thereafter. I don't even think about failure as an option.

Graduated med school is early 2000 with about 175k in student loans. Deferred loans till I was finished residency/fellowship in 2008. Was able to pay them off in 5 years. Key is to not splurge and live within your means. You don't need to buy a new Audi or a 4000 square foot house as soon as you graduate. Prioritize. You have to realize once your income reaches a certain level, you can't deduct the interest from your loans.

This is correct. You will be paying around 60k in annual taxes....and your student loan payments/interest are nondeductible. A lot of people in this thread don't know the reality of the situation, but it is very doable.

Or you can buy nice things and let your debt last a couple more years. There isn't a right way as everyone values things differently.

Going to have around 110,000 after I finish Pharmacy school and the interest is added. Hoping to pay it off in 10 years

That's what my wife owed when she finished pharmacy school 5 years ago next month, and we'll have it paid off by the end of this year. Her interest rate was 6.9%.

With your salary as a pharmacist, it won't be that hard to pay off 110,000 in 10 years.

My base loan amount will be $65000 after grad school. After accrued interests that's probably $73000 + in loan debt.

Not at your level, but it will still take me awhile to pay it off considering I'm not a doctor.

Chrxis how long does it take for a pharmacist to start making real money right out of school? I saw some of these guys saying I will be paying 5k a month. I mean if you start at 150 k a year but if not damn

I've definitely talked to a financial advisor. Have the budget set up that the majority of paychecks will go to loan repayment. I think the point is there are lots of ways to manage the debt so do what ur comfortable with. Some can tolerate havering the debt around for a while, others like me would like to get rid of it as fast as possible.
