I just bought an Old Town kayak. If so, do you prefer to explore lakes or fish? Maybe float down a river with some a few rapids? Also where are some legit places to go taking in Tennessee and Arkansas as I'll be in those states in a little over a month.

Sounds like too much work.

Seriously though, I love going down rivers with some rapids. Not sure about places around you though.

Kayaking is so 90’s. Stand up paddle boarding is my jam nowadays.

I have and it's awesome. Instead of getting frustrated with the 2nd person in a canoe, you control the whole thing.

There's some good kayaking on the Pigeon River in Tennessee near the NC border

I kayak fish all the time in the marsh. October through January is prime time speck season.

I thought about floating them down a river in Arkansas and camping along the way but haven’t done it.

Rapids are a different type of kayak

I'm from Idaho and I used to go every weekend. Whitewater only though lake/ocean kayaking is boring without good scenery and a fishing pole. Arkansas is a top 5 state to kayak.

Skip to about the 430 mark of my second link and it might be the best cast I've ever had. I was about to throw the other way, heard a pop and threw it right on him

Pedalboarders laugh at your old-fashioned paddle boards. Luddite!

Not since the early 2000s, Firestone was fun though.

The Hiwassee River in TN is a nice relaxing run. It has class I up to class III Rapids depending in water level. Beautiful mountain scenery. There are just a couple of shallow spots that you may have to get out if the water is low. Stay in the boat though cause that water is freezing cold.
