I know they instigated a 14 day quarantine and are doing checkpoints on I-10. And I know there are alternate routes to get into Florida other than I-10.

But does anyone know if the checkpoints and the 14 day quarantine will end on April 30th? Source?

Seeing lots of Florida beaches beginning to open on May 1st with restrictions, but nothing reported about the checkpoints and quarantine.

I'm thinking about going to Alabama or Florida in May. Just not sure about it as the places of business might get overrun and/or they won't have enough employees to provide service.

I would be just fine sitting at a condo cooking my own meals and going to the beach/pool.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Rates for the first 2 weeks in May are really cheap right now.

Just don't want to risk a mandatory 14 day quarantine if I only book a condo for a week.

I’m traveling there Monday (essential) to a jobsite. And leaving on Thursday.
I went through the I-10 checkpoint the week they started it so they have all my information. But because details on the quarantine weren’t fully fleshed out at the time, as if they check on me in my hotel or something, I worked that one day and came back home. I plan to take an alternate route in, and I-10 out. I ask around.

Exit at Buckee's in AL (Baldwin Beach Expwy), head South to Hwy 90 & turn East.

Head through Seminole, AL, cross the state line and veer left when 90 splits (Milton/Pcola split, head toward Milton). Re-enter I-10 soon thereafter.

What are you seeing and where? I checked some places for May 22nd and seemed higher than I was thinking for condos and some of the Marriott properties were stupid high with points needed.

I thought earlier I had read that the beaches and restaurants/bars wouldn't fully open until May 15th, so I was assuming people were rushing to book stuff that first weekend after.

Each county has there separate restrictions. Some beach are only open in the morning or evening, other s are open for only a few hours and then some open fully but no chairs, umbrellas, etc.

By May 15, they will probably all be fully up and running but with social distancing enforced. I don’t think you will see the beach vendors lining up chairs right next to each other this year, so that’s a plus.

I’ve been through the checkpoint twice, wasn’t stopped due to Florida plates, but my neighbors said they take your info and then ask you to quarantine for 14 days. They will not come check on you. They don’t even verify the address you give them.

Why are people so worried about these checkpoints. They’re basically meaningless and aren’t enforceable

Why are you giving bad advice? If you've read up on this you would know that they have most def. been enforcing things regarding the beaches. Very strictly in many areas.

I’m talking about the check points not the beaches

True, but I've heard stories of the traffic being backed up pretty bad in some cases on the interstate. Maybe not for entering Florida, but I heard it from a few people that went to Texas.
