It will take you hours just to get out of Houston in a car on a day like today.

My flight was cancelled today but was able to get on a later flight. Just drive it. It's a bit less than 3 hrs in normal conditions.

Are you there right now? If you're at IAH right now, drive. You'll be home before you were supposed to leave Houston. Either way drive. Better to get home sometime today than wait it out and not get out until tomorrow.

Personally I'd go to the airport bar on the company expense account

If you're considering driving at all, just pull the trigger and rent a car now. In May when they had all those storms Avis ran out of cars.

Depends on if you have to drive after you land in Lafayette. If someone is picking you up or you get a taxi, I'd set up shop at the nearest airport bar. I make that drive a lot, and fly (to NOLA at least) regularly. I'd much rather fly even if it means sitting in the airport. Especially if there's bad weather.

That's what I couldn't figure out. If I was at IAH now, I would gtfo as fast as I could. If I was flying into IAH in a few hours I wouldn't drive in the traffic + rain that late in the afternoon.

I'd fly. Looks like it'll be cleared out a bit by 9 so the flight should take off on time. I'd rather not worry about road conditions personally.

No, I'm in Jacksonville and get to Houston at 4:30. Several flights have been cancelled, so the airport and standy lists will be crazy, so I'm driving.

I don't understand that. Driving in weather is pretty stressful.. just doesn't seem worth it for to get home an hour or two early. Chill at the airport and have a beer.

Yeah, driving in a storm sucks, but so does being on the last flight of the night that gets cancelled.

Houston roads at 4:30 is the closest thing to Hell on earth . Then you add in the rain. Not saying it's not worth it for you to drive, it's just GONNA SUCK. I'm dreading my drive home and it's only about 30 minutes .

I've also been the last person out of Hobby before and that was pretty terrible. Landed from New York at like 6 and our flight left at 12:30 a.m.. Not a single thing open after 9ish. All you can do is sit at your gate and wait.

Well, after 25 minutes on hold for the premier desk (it must be really bad), I was able to get a confirmed seat on the 7:10 flight, so now I'll take my chances flying.

to all.
