Absolutely. When July rolls around and its 75, it’ll be heaven. I’ll also go spend my off mornings drinking coffee and watching orca’s

I wouldn't want to live in Alaska, but Montana, Wyoming, parts of Colorado I would love to live in. It's not that I hate the heat of Louisiana, it's for big sky, clean mountain air, and peace and quiet.
Some parts of places like Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia too.

-10 and low humidity > 96 and 98% humidity.
I could do it, but I grew up in the Northeast.

I enjoy winter for the most part. Nothing like having a glass of bourbon while the snow comes down outside. And then there’s the option of skiing.
Sure, just like anything it has it’s drawbacks at times, but overall I like the cold weather.
Certainly makes you appreciate summer more when it comes around, too.

Winters arent really that bad you adjust to them quite quickly...I adjusted during my first winter in like a week... 20-30s are nice like shorts weather. Below zero is when it gets miserable, but only if theres wind.
I've just recently moved to a village, where the temps have been below 0 for the better half of a week. I forgot what ab0ve 0 feels like, but it got up to -1 yesterday and the air was noticeably less cold.
As long as you stay in the cities, you have running water, utilities , sewage, etc. Hub villages are hit or miss, remote villages are what you would expect.

Does anyone on the OT actually enjoy long winters?
if so why?
I do. Cold weather is just more comfortable to me. Shame I live in New Orleans.

No running water and outhouses year round are enough to discourage me.
Seems unsanitary.

Cold and wet with dirty boots is no way to go thru life

Anything below 70 is too cold unless I am skiing or in a deer stand.

I grew up in Chicago which has tropical winters compared to Alaska and it was freaking awful.
You can say you like snow, fires, skiing, etc. But it's easy to forget that you're dealing with 5-6 months of just shite weather. Not only the weather, but it's dark up there for long hours during the winter months. It's depressing as frick and a major pain in the arse to do anything because you have to get bundled up, let the car warm up, hope the roads are cleared just to make a quick run to the gas station.
I'm not saying it's not perfect for some folks but it would genuinely be a shock to the system for folks moving up there from the South.

Cold weather doesn't bother me nearly as much as 95 degree heat with 100% humidity. I'd much rather put on a jacket and be comfortable than be drenched in sweat walking from front door to car
ETA: The shittiest part by far is driving in heavy snow/ice.

i love those shows and the terrain, but i couldnt be that isolated and a 5 hour plane ride back to the states.
I would need to be more centralized because i like to travel too much.
Id rather do Colorado

I thought you said Alaska. It's like this and colder in the Midwest. Heck, by the time you reach north Louisiana, 30 degrees in winter is common.
I lived many years in the Midwest and multi week long periods where it doesn't get above 20 is not uncommon. Alaska has to be much colder.
