Why are you not awake before the sun comes up?

Man I don't have to be at work until around 7. I start waking up around 4:30 most mornings.

I don't think I have set an alarm in 10 years.

I’ve used one since 2008 and one of my little kids has one as well.

The light/sound comes on gradually 15min before your set alarm time, getting brighter and louder over time. Depending on how deeply I was sleeping, I’ll wake up at different times.

Nice waking up to a soft light you can see the room in, nice having an alarm the rest of the house can’t hear.

IMO it’s great for kids, no need to wake them up for school and they wake up happier than a normal alarm.

I had one and it was awesome. Eventually the lamp outlet quit working but slowly increasing light and louder and louder outdoor noises was a great way to wake up.

I have this one. It is just a pain to reset after a time change or power outage.

I use one strictly during DST

It helps me wake up early so I can go mist my crops so they don't get too crispy from the extra hour of sunlight during DST

I wake up at 5 am. My wife doesn’t get up until 7. I think she’d kill me if a bright light came on at 5

I have the first one you posted. It works well for me. Have to sleep in total darkness for it to work well for me though. But the light does wake me up and when it finally beeps, it’s not as jarring.

I got a Hatch alarm clock for the kids because you can program it to be different colors and make different sounds at different times. Doesn't really help get them out of bed in the morning, but it did make them start paying attention to what time it was and helped with consistent bedtime routine. For myself, I just wake up at the same time every day no matter what and I can't help it. Also, I have a 1 year old.

How do you function now with DST late sunrises in March after 6:30?

Definitely feels like I’m getting up an hour earlier. But the light still helps with the transition from bed to moving around

Yes, rooster is tougher than a hen and older does not make better eating
