Return the tires after mounting and driving on them.

Once I did have to return a set but it was still in the plastic wrapping. They sent the wrong size.

I brought your Mom and your sister home after doing both of the same to each of them.

Wanted to, set of XLT MS's from discount, they never could get the balance right and wouldn't accept that the tires were bad. 5 trips back to discount in first 10k miles before they let me know they couldn't do anything about the issue. Call to regional rep during that time didn't resolve either. No longer deal with them.

I haven't but if there was something wrong with them discovered after driving on them, I would return them with explanation why.

Technically, yes.

Before the Firestone debacle hit the news with full force, I stood in the lobby and demanded a refund for and described my separated, new tires for about an hour, while all of their customers came in and out.

To get rid of me, the manager finally told the counter guy to 'just put it (refund) under customer satisfaction.'

It wasn't but a few weeks later that the Firestone tire issue was front and center in the news cycle.

Although I never actually 'returned' the used tires, I was fully reimbursed for those shitty things.

I honestly thought it was just the Firestone products they shipped to the OEM's like Ford that were garbage.

I figured the models/brands they sold to the tire distributors were their normal products.

The Explorer was fitted from factory with the tires, but they were also being sold in the category of light truck tires for aftermarket customers.

ATX and ATX II tires and all Wilderness AT tires manufactured in Decatur, Illinois were the problem. The Decatur plant was shut down and a lot of people were fired from both the tire company and Ford.

Yes had a sports sedan (G37) and went with a tire recommend from my favorite local tire store. Didn’t make it 2 miles down the road and hated the driving experience. This sporty car now had the body roll of a minivan. Drove right back and explained the situation and we ordered in a different set. No questions asked.

I bought a set of snow tires from a local shop, never got around to putting them on and then sold the car that they went to. They were never mounted, just sat in the garage at work and I returned them about 6 months later. The shop had no issue with it, refunded me on the spot and put them right back on the rack.

I thought that was pretty cool of them after such a long time, and frankly I didn’t expect that they’d do it.

Not saying this was what you did but what generally happens in that circumstance is that the tire saleperson recommends the proper tire for the vehicle at first. The purchaser wants cheap and not what's right for the car and insists on buying the cheap tires. You get what you pay for.

You should have said “after mounting them”.

Yes. I got a bubble on two of mine less than a week after having them installed after purchase. No idea how that happened, and I didn't do anything crazy, assumed it was a defect.

Yes, the shop mounted the wrong size and they rubbed when I turned.

I was fresh out of college immediately before the Firestone tire debacle began and I had the tread on one tire completely separate from the sidewall while driving around 60 mph. Took it back to the Firestone location I purchased from and they told me to get bent.

This assumes the tire guy knows something about sporty tires. I have asked about RE71's and they offer an all season as an alternate.

Depends on where you shop. It's pretty easy to look up a vehicle and see the load and speed ratings that are recommended.

I think Ford also requested Firestone to make a lighter tire to improve fuel efficiency. Probably didn't help the the explorer recommended an operating air pressure of 26 PSI. But besides the design, that factory produce crappy tires.

Yea I understand. The OEM tire was discontinued, we tried one he recommended, I picked the next one. But I can imagine that happening.
