For those on Syntharoid how is that going?

Synthroid is one of the medications my wife takes daily since her thyroid issue and she is doing fine with it. It did take the better part of a year for the Drs. to get her meds figured out and her on the right track.

She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Grave's disease at the time.

My Endo said I seem to be "resistant" to the synthetic t4. My t4 is now above normal but my TSH is still not in the optimal range and t3 is still a little low.

With your continued issues and high dosage of synthroid, have you and your endo discussed Armour or adding cytomel?

I'm keeping that fact in my back pocket, along with Armour and cytomel, in the event that levo doesn't cure my symptoms.

I've been on Synthroid before, but not Cytomel.

Your doctor seems unique from my anecdotal readings. Many doctors don't seem to want to touch Armour with synthetic on the market. A lot of people are desperate to get on Armour.

It's not totally peaced out but I am on Levothyroxine.

I’m on this as well for my thyroid.

Also take Losartin, Metoprolol, Atrorvastatin, Furosemide, Amiodarone, potassium, and Warfrin for all my other organs and shite that generally doesn’t work now. Sucks having to pop like 12 pills a day. But it is what it is.

Gotta say reading all this is a little overwhelming. Hopefully I will only have to have half of my thyroid taken out to preserve some function

I try to stick to doctors who don't default to cramming prescriptions down your gullet. This guy wants me back on bioidentical stuff really badly, but I feel no different and I'm not paying 4 times more for something that's 0% more effective. I also take probably a dozen other random vitamins and supplements, some of which are thyroid support related, which is their preferred method for trying to correct things. I'm pretty sure I could stop taking all of this crap tomorrow and not feel that much different, if any, but if I do, they'll stop trying new things and just keep whining about getting back on vitamins.

My wife couldn't take the synthetic hormones, they made her depressed, and then the doc wanted to put her on more meds for that. She tried the natural pig hormones and it solved all those issues and she has no issues unless she misses a few doses in a row.

Not yet. I feel fine.. well, maybe I don't feel 100% and don't know but I certainly don't feel bad. Nothing even close to the lethargy and exhaustion I used to feel.

I supplement vitamin d3 and fish oil, but those are mostly just precautionary. My vitamin D was at 27 at one point but I've been a lot more active lately (re: taking long walks outside and such) and supplementing with D3, now it's at 65-70 when it gets tested.

Did this come and go ? I've been having days when I'm wiped out physically by 3 pm, can't figure out what's causing it.

I have heard this before. The Levothyroxine works well for me though.

I honestly didn't know I had an underactive thyroid until I had to do a hormone workup for fertility treatment. So I didn't really have noticeable symptoms to manage, so the generic works.

It still does to me, to some degree. But here's a better idea of what I was facing and why I went to the doctor. What I was facing was constant, nonstop exhaustion. I could sleep 10 hours soundly and still want to go back to bed an hour later. Every day was a struggle to get up and do anything. Caused problems in my relationship with my fiancee at the time (now wife) because I was a useless lump 90% of the time. In order to make it to work I was downing several cups of coffee, a Monster energy drink, and another cup of coffee when I got to work, then a cup of coffee or two in the afternoon just to be a semi-functional adult.

Now I'm at a point where most days as long as I sleep well I'm fine. My doc just bumped me up to 250mcg because I was still experiencing several days a week of exhaustion after 3-4pm like you're talking about. That has all but disappeared.

Hey, I had problems with this too and had to fight for months to get it approved. I did not take no for an answer and they have been providing it to me for $9.99 and 90 days in the mail for the past 5 or so years.

Mine was 150bpm before my surgery. Doctors said it most definitely caused irreparable damage to my heart.

Hell, that's better than moderate exercise heart rate. How long did this go on before you sought medical attention?

I watched my wife lose the weight over about a 1 month period, going from 125 down to 105 and looking frazzled most of the time. When I found her heart rate was so high while lying down for as long as she was, it was a no-brainer that something was seriously wrong.

Hope it all works out for you in the long run and the heart damage was not very severe.

I just want to say a few things here..

1. I almost died because of a thyroid storm. Everyone just thought I was a crazy a-hole that would go nuts if the wind blew the wrong direction. I was navigating through life for a decade or more with a TSH level of ZERO!!

2. If you need a good endocrinologist this young lady saved my life and wrote a paper about my case. I cannot recommend Dr Agarwal enough.
