It’s reasonable to be concerned, but “AI taking over our lives” isn’t a yes/no thing. The reality is more like: AI is already reshaping parts of life, there are real near-term harms we should deal with now, and long-term “loss of control” risks are debated but not zero. You don’t need to panic—you do want to stay awake at the wheel.

Here’s a grounded way to think about it.

What “taking over our lives” could mean

People usually mean one (or more) of these:

Everyday dominance: AI nudges what we buy, watch, believe; jobs shift; bureaucracy automates; it feels like you can’t opt out.

Bad-actor amplification: scammers, propagandists, or governments use AI to scale harm.

Runaway/ existential scenario: future AI becomes so capable that humans can’t control it.

The first two are happening to some degree already; the third is uncertain but taken seriously by part of the expert community.

There are several sides to it that i think are gonna be a very bad thing.

1: school. It’s already here but it’s gonna get to a point that having to actually learn something to pass is gonna be a thing of the past. Unless education goes back to older pencil and paper methods, learning is gonna change greatly.

2: nudity. Not celebs or models but there is gonna be a very tough time trying to keep random people from having AI create nudes of them. It’s already been happening in highschool and it’s gonna get easier and easier to make the picture of any random person

I am not totally anti-AI but people who use it to write message board comments, like you did here, are the worst. Even when it's a dumb meta-joke.

I received a personalized video from my doctor after a visit a few weeks ago. It was awesome, my doctor said my name, went over what we discussed and even had comments that were specific to my situation..it was all AI, yet looked very real.

The amount of people that probably believe their doctor really recorded a 2-3 minute video for them is great for business, but huge concern of AI saying something wrong. Seems dangerous.

We as people no matter your color or ethnicity allowed this to happen by not coming together...

I have to use AI because HR doesn’t accept “because I said so” .
