Friend of mine moved to Dallas after he obtained his CPA... hours suck but the pay is worth it since he makes double what I make.

Not against changing. Instead of States, try changing your attitude.

Get above the BS and just live your life. Don't let it touch you.

You could drop me anywhere and I would be me. Moving hasn't changed that.

Has mainly to do with pay for educators in the state of Louisiana and how they are treated....

Other states actually value educators but in Louisiana we feel as they are replaceable and ask them to do more and more with little to no pay increase. Also the state as a whole can not make it's mind up on the testing structure it wants to use. One year is LEAP then PARCC, then Online testing.... we put our students at a disadvantage and expect it to change when we have not changed ourselves.

I hate to tell you, there is more to life than money.

If you aren't happy now, uprooting and moving across the country won't solve that. You'll just be miles away with a brief break from what you ran from.

I am happy
But I wouldn't mind a better environment in which I work and I would have no problem teaching elsewhere as family is not a big concern for me. I've been looking into working overseas for the experience and the fact that I can see the world.
Plus I don't want to get married or have kids, so money allows me to do what I want which is travel and see the world.

Why am I going to convince some random guy on an internet message board about my experiences in the city? I used to work the door at Frat House, Amps, Redeye when my friend would DJ. Ton of experience in just those nights alone. I've been to Audubon, I've been to the aquarium, I've been to the French Quarter, I'm a Pelicans season ticket holder, been to numerous Saints games, concerts, uptown on Freret street. I'm not sure why you need to know all of this, but whatever.

Hipsters vote for the wrong people and attract more like them... I wish the Bywater would build a walmart so they didn't have to come to ours

FYI hipsters are usually one of the first signs its about to start getting better if you want to clean up a city and don't mind the gentrification route.

I would much rather hipster compared to what some of those areas used to be.
