We have the most 4 year Universities per capita and the fewest 2 year Universities per capita.
The solution is obvious, but politics makes it a non-starter. Every college has its constituency.
There is really no reason for LSU Shreveport, Nicholls, or SUNO to be 4 year universities.
We could stand to have a lot of consolidation of universities and reduction of redundant programs.

[I wouldn't close ULL, but I would scale it back a bit and change the name to Univ of Acadiana, we need to stop this Univ of America crap]

How about we keep the Pharmacy School as its own separate thing (like LSU Dental School in New Orleans), and convert the rest to a community college?

They have the best software engineering and robotics program in the state. Also, outside of LSU, they have largely the best Humanities programs in the state.

LSU, La Tech, Tulane, and Centenery are the only colleges in LA that grant degrees worth the paper they're printed on.

also you can move all that robotics and comp sci stuff to LSU.
Also definitely raise the GPA and SAT requirement for admission. Deny anyone with lower than a 3.0

In his defense, there's not all that many people between Lafayette and Ruston. There are way too many universities for north Louisiana right now with Northwestern, ULM, La Tech, Grambling, and LSU Shreveport all in an area with less than 1 million people.

I believe SLU is the 3rd largest public university in the state, behind LSU and UL-L. Not sure if that's the one that should become a JUCO.
