If Miss. was worth a shite as a state they would be nice and put one of those technologically advanced signs about 20 miles to the west warning motorist of the traffic situation.

That was exactly my thought, Cosmo. Someone should seriously be fired for the clusterfrick they created with that shite!

All the numb-nutted Louisiana drivers combined with the slack-jawed Mississppi yokels and a smattering of Alabama sister-humpers thrown in for good measure, turns a normal slowdown into a 90 minute teeth-gnashing ordeal.

Thank you.

This is scheduled to occur every weekend through August. LA DOTD could care less. In May we ran into about an hour and a half in delays traveling from Sulphur to Baton Rouge as they were restripping I-10 eastbound. This was after the high school state softball championships, which is attended by a lot of folks from BR and NOLA. Got home after midnight. Great planning by LA DOTD.

Google Maps is your friend. We came in from Gulf Shores today. Google Maps diverted us to the Hwy 43 exit, then cut us across Texas Flat Road, then down I-59S for a little bit until we ran into I-12 again. Alleviated all of the construction.

Google's live map updates are freaking awesome.

Every weekend except July 4th weekend. Yes, very smart to do this in the summer when you have more travelers visiting beaches.

Got stuck but luckily able to get off by the stennis exit and take highway 90. What a damn mess. Someone should absolutely be fired for doing this during beach season. As if the mobile tunnel wasn't bad enough.

Ya Waze wanted to bring me that way this time over using 90 like it did last week. I overruled it and just took 90 all the way to 510.

Wondered and was intrigued by that route though

FYI - Texas Flat Road is a good, wide, smooth road that you can easily travel at 65-70 MPH.

Texas Flat Road was good fr rabbit hunting, nailing trim, and dumping stuff you didn't want found back in the day.

I used it last weekend and was an easy detour around the mess. Go for it.

Dude they had signs telling younto take the alternate route. Passed there this morning but took Hwy 90 to Hwy 190. Smooth sailing.
