Replace my second windshield on a 2025 Traverse. Both times rocks hit my windshield were by trucks that did not have mudflaps or the mudflaps were in crappy condition. The truck that spit the rocks today coming back from New Orleans was a Mexican hot shot driver driving a Dually and pulling a flatbed. When I was motioning to him that my windshield got fricked up and screaming that he needs to get some real mudflaps I could tell I was wasting my time.

I am not exaggerating when I say I replace a windshield every 2 to 3 years no matter what car I drive. This one has less than 19,000 miles and I need to replace my second one. Unless the crack worsens, I’m gonna wait until it’s inspection time before I have to do it. It’s expensive and frustrating but SafeLite is making a killing.

Anybody else running into this?

But by gum, you'd best have them brake tags!!!

I just had the windshield replaced on my wife’s ‘19 Traverse, rock star burst that ran in her sight line..

She was on he way to Shreveport for her Graduation for her masters.

The OEM windshields are higher quality than Safelite, etc. Try to get an OEM for your vehicle through a local glass shop to avoid the dealership. My wife’s 4Runner eats rocks haha

I bought my truck and got hit by a rock within the first week. I waited 10 months to replace it, and only made it 2 months before being hit by another one. The one that just hit me was from 10+ car lengths back. I had one fall on from an overpass yesterday and hit my car but it didn't break the windshield. Louisiana sucks for windshields.

I'm having some doubts.

Had a 2014 that didn't have a single new crack in it for the 9 years I had it.

Got a brand new car in November.

Already went to Safelite to fill 3 rock hits. The last of the 3 made me go to Safelite to fill them all in since it spidered immediately.

Either the law of averages is catching up to me or the windshield isn't as strong. A part of me feels like it's either the averages or something with the angle of the shield, because I'm hearing them hit more often, they sound louder on impact, and I wince

I thought this was about windshield wipers as mine are almost useless now after 6 months old.

I once had one replaced. While driving home, not 5 miles from the place, big rock got me.

I am going to hell now because of my words that moment.

I feel your pain and know it’s expensive. I had to replace a windshield in a loaner vehicle from the dealership earlier this year. 2026 Silverado windshield was $1200. I paid $500 and my insurance covered the rest.

There was a thread about windshields last week and someone said Safelight windshields are thinner than others

My wife’s OEM windshields have lasted longer than the Safelite garbage. I would suspect the quality of all windshields has dropped along with the quality of everything else in life

In Florida they do it for free. But last time I had mine done I got a crack in the new one literally a week later so I think was given a low quality replacement by Safelight

It's worse than ever. All the stuff integrated into the windshield. My wife just got a pretty bad crack and we got 800 quoted for replacement..and I've heard worse. We had it repaired but it's still gnarly and right in her sight line.

I think there's a couple of problems. Lots of trucks with loosely covered loads. And it also occurs to me that I haven't seen a street sweeper in a long time clearing debris out of the breakdown lanes.

I’m 41 and have never had to replace a windshield. This is a thing?

I drive a lot for work and have to replace my windshield every couple of years at least. I added zero deductible on glass 10 or so years ago to my State Farm policy, it’s only $100-150 a year I believe.

They take care of it every time, zero out of pocket and my premiums haven’t gone up. Matter of fact my premiums have been lowered twice in the last year.
