A guy named Larry Ryhmes did weather sometimes, not sure if that's who you are thinking about.
Larry had been the midday guy on FM102 for years. I guess he finally decided he wanted to eat AND pay rent/mortgage so he moved over to TV.

Ron Sanner (sportscaster) always seemed like a cool dude. Looks like he’s been out of the news biz for a long time
Last I heard, I think he moved to Texas and got into real estate or something like that. Ron was a solid sports guy (all of their team were solid sports guys) but we used to joke that when we all were planning on a night out, if he said "I'll meet you there" then you knew he wasn't coming.

When a dude tells you this, it means he's working some action. If the hookup works, he's out and if the hookup doesn't work, he'll see you at the bar.

There was a local DJ, Chuck Redden, who had some pretty hilarious skits on several of the TV8 news crew.
Lanny James, aka Lamy Lane
Judy Waggoner, aka Judy Wagonhead
It was gold
Jack & June was pretty hilarious as they would 'argue' and insult each other.
June was somewhat of cutie before she got older and put on weight.
Ken Booth was known to consume lots and lots of booze but he exposed a lot corruption and shenanigans in the City of Monroe.
Needless to say, the south side folks did not like him.
The current TV8 crew is pretty weak.
I do like their sports program as they cover a lot of the local sports scene and do a good job at that.

I think Aaron is the last of the on-air talent hired while under NOE ownership.

Yep. Ever since the station sold to Gray Media, the news crew has degraded. I think this is happening while we're also seeing an overall degradation in the overall quality level of new talent as it seems that even in larger markets the talent isn't quite what it used to be (looking at you , BRZ). Maybe it's the proliferation of new, streaming services or something else.

In the late 80's, I was working at K104. At the time EVERY radio station in Monroe had a black DJ in the midnight slot. Our guy was laid up after hernia surgery, so I was tabbed to replace him. One day my boss asked, "How's it feel to be the only white guy on the air after midnight?"
After they decided I was no longer needed, I was painting a store in the mall. A buddy of mine was managing the place.
I was listening to FM102 and called a request. Mean Green told me he couldn't do it (tight playlist, I guess). It was only a night or two later that he was shot.
I told my buddy "This is what happens when you don't play requests."

Lanny passed a few years ago. Health deteriorated apparently after falling out of a deer stand.
Lanny passed away in 2023. He was 82 years young. I did not know that's what happened to him.
He was always very nice & cordial whenever we spoke.
I loved his leisure suits back in day and thought he was cool as ice.
He had a talk radio show in Monroe and was pretty good at it. I think he had a talk radio show in Florida as well.
Always gave great interviews.
He was a class act.

I worked there for a few years in the early-mid 90s. Fun times.

lol, just because I know where a lot of the bodies are buried doesn’t mean I need to smear these folks. They have families to consider not to mention not only were they co-workers but in many cases friends.
I will say this-KNOE TV and Radio was one of the most interesting places to work. Especially in the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s through 9/11 and Katrina.

Small world. That’s my step-dad. He does voiceover work for on-hold messaging now on the side. Mostly retired though.
