I think in your head you thought this would make you sound cool.
Instead, it makes you sound immature and defensive about being a gamer.
Learn from it and bounce back kid

My son is in 9th grade he has a Xbox in his room, once his homework is done he can play for an hour or so before bed. I don’t have a problem with it as long as it isn’t hours on end he understands the rules and the limits no problem.

Kids playing Roblox versus watching YouTube is a win in my book during winter months up here. We are still high 30s to low 40s for the mornings right now. Sick of it

Based off this thread I get the feeling most grown men on TD still play video games
I always have and still do. Graduated LSU summa cum laude in engineering, I work a full time job and still have time for fishing, yard work, watching sports, working out, plus a few thousand hours built up on CSGO

I refuse to believe that you’re a straight male with healthy testosterone levels that likes to gossip about other men and their families. How much time would you say you spend thinking about other men daily?

I can’t stand people like you who carry around a holier than thou attitude.
Video games are douchy and for kids…but all of YOUR hobbies are just fine…ok.
no dumbass.....its real simple
grown men take care of their responsibilities of being a husband and father first.
i dont give a frick if its duck hunting, fishing, or playing video games.....wife and kids come first.
what you do after that is fine, specifically said that.
want to play after the wife and kids are in bed....go ahead.
but dont act like there isnt an issue in the 20 and early 30 year old crowd of ignoring the wife and kids to play video games becasue there is. just like there is an issue of the older gen doing the same to go hunting, but atleast that produces food for the family.
if your family sucks so much you dont want to spend time with them.....well should have chosen better.

Dang man, you gave it another shot and still fell flat on your face.
Keep trying and you’ll get there

K. Keep us posted on what all the other men in your life are doing that you don’t approve of, Karen.

quote:So you conveniently left this out earlier during your description of your week which lists what are basically your own hobbies.
i have every other friday off and try and go fish or play golf then.
i read books instead of watching tv usually but during the week, well mainly spring time, i dont have a ton of time to do that either
Golfing, reading, fishing, all hobbies. Suddenly your life doesn't sound so miserable because what you initially described included 0 of that.
There are people who choose to game instead of golfing, fishing, reading books, or watching sports. You do the same thing as people who play video games, except you have your own hobby preference, which is fine. So get your stick out of your arse with this idea that grown men with kids playing video games is some crime against God

Haha, man why is everything so homo erotic with you? You got something you need to let out?

i specifically said gaming was fine, although pretty douchie, so long as it was after one puts the wife and kids to bed and it doesnt interfere with being a good husband or parent.
now if you are playing things like sports games, first person shooters, old school games and the like....its way less douchie than say.....sitting at a computer playing world of warcraft or some other magic game.

I’m curious bc I’ve never seen this kind of justification before…
Do people really consider video games the same as fishing, hunting, sports, etc?
I feel very strongly that being outdoors, exercising, developing physical skills, etc is much better for humans than video games. I figured most people felt this is the case but maybe I’m wrong

I was asking if you differentiate between games on your phone or games on Xbox. To me, there is no difference. Just curious if I’m alone in that sentiment.
To me, playing games on your phone is the same having your head buried in your phone for any reason and the same as playing Xbox and the same as watching Netflix and watching the game(s). It’s all just entertainment that takes time away from something.

I guess I just don’t see what benefit the games bring to my kids? What is the goal of this balance ?
Don't let him watch movies and TV either. In fact, just take away all of his entertainment.
There's no point to it, right?

Why? Why is playing WOW any different than God of War, Assasains creed, elder scrolls, or NCAA 2006 on dynasty mode?

I don’t think I’d be opposed to any of those. We canceled cable bc we never watched it. Daughters like cake shows on Netflix though so I’ll watch those with them before bed
