I just don’t see what positive influences video games bring my kids

quote:Not saying you so this but I do find it funny that there are a lot of women who think this... while their favorite TV shows are Real Houswives, Teen Mom and any other mindless reality show they watch 2 yours every night.
I know everyone is different. But this is an instant turnoff for me

If they're making good grades and have a social life then so what?
Yeah I don’t get it either. There are plenty of kids out there that are doing well in school, have a decent social life, and still play video games. For many of them video games is part of their social life because they game with friends and talk about the games.
As mentioned before, plenty of athletes play video games too. So it’s no longer this “nerdy” thing. More and more people (not just almost entirely guys anymore either) play video games now. But just like with a lot of things, moderation is needed.

Or why not learn to parent and make them understand if x isn’t happening then neither is gaming. My daughter once told me once I got her an Xbox and laid the rules down that it was more pressure on her to do right. It’s called liability and it’s a great thing to teach kids.

Our 1st grader plays Duke Nukem for 4-5 hours every night. I don’t care as long as he’s in bed by midnight.

We.let ours play Doom as long as he passes maths and takes out the trash once a week.

I stomped it to pieces. Lots of tiny pieces.

Do you allow cell phones? Those are a lot worse than video games.

Mario and Sonic are the two most popular celebrities at our house

Why don’t you go play Elden Ring instead of having such a stick up your arse?

Why raise the kids myself when a screen can do it for me?
That's the modern parenting strategy, it seems.

My kids don’t care about video games yet. Got them a Nintendo Switch and they really only use it when we travel. Never asked for an XBox or anything like that yet. They play outside more than inside. That’s what we have taught them is normal for boys. I don’t play video games so they don’t see it except on tv or their friends house.

i still stand by my statement grown man with kids....shouldnt be playing video games unless its with their own kids. but a grown arse man with kids shouldnt be watching a bunch of tv either.
grown man playing video games is a fricking douche and i grew up playing video games until i got married and really until i had kids
We all love our kids and most of love sport but the idea of having to take your kids to sports literally 7 days a week sounds absolutely miserable.

why?
a lot of games stimulate thinking and problem solving. its a fine hobby in moderation. enforce the moderation.
i think allowing your kids to participate in social media is a hell of a lot more of a problem than any video game. Good luck locking that down.
