Check out Florida southern college in Lakeland Florida. It was designed by him.

Any construction in that setting would be bad arse.

Really had his mind on building airplanes.

I love the look of most of his houses, I'm not a builder so I don't know about much more than that.

At one point there were 4 FLW buildings in MS. Two on the gulf coast are now gone: one was destroyed in Camille and another was so badly damaged by (IIRC) Gustav it was torn down.

The most interesting of these houses still survives. It's in the Woodland Hills section of Jackson and is called Fountainhead (yes, like the book/movie based on Wright).

If Frank Lloyd Wright is wrong I don't want to be Wright.

Good Lord willing and the crick don't rise.
I guess that one in flood stage would be a nightmare.
That being said, I've always found that house to be a work of art.

Kind of think that most of the Photos that we see of the house, are taken soon after a big rain event, to make it more dramatic. Most of the time, there's probably not that much water coming through the falls.

I've driven by that house many times. My understanding of FLW and as it pertains to Kafka's presented house, FLW would stay with the owners up to 6 months to get a sense of who and what they are/were to design a house to fit them. As in the case of the Woodland Hills house presented by Kafka the owners were batshit crazy and the house reflected their personality. While its still a "cool" house and a FLW design you could probably get it pennies on a dollar right now (compared to his other works elsewhere). Have friends in that neighborhood that wish they would have sold out a few (several) years ago.

If you're truly an OT Baller there is another house in Woodland Hills as the FLW that actually looks like a castle and can be had for about 2 mil or a little less. Just saying.

I'll hand it to him that he was definitely original.

On the other hand, I'm glad there weren't more of him

I really like FLW. He was one of the best example of Craftsman style with clean lines.

But Frank Gehry is up there with FLW as an "American Architect" even though FG was born in Canada

Just MHO

Maybe I’m simple, but lil small town A. Hays Town seems far more talented to me

Town captured the spirit and soul of an entire state with his designs

Wright captures the spirit and soul of an autistic engineer with his designs

This house actually has a Wikipedia page:

Castle Crest

Is Woodland Hills going down that dramatically? Isn't the Fondren area being hipsterized/gentrified?

I guess nothing is safe in Jackhole...

I was the same way until a year or two ago and then it just clicked for some reason. I really like the look of his homes. I think I got an overload of chip and joanna and somehow learned to appreciate real design.

I disagree. I think there is something appealing about FLW's design (not engineering) that draws the eye

I do like Town, but saying he captured a state is a bit much.

I think both FLW and FG had a larger impact that Town.

I don’t think Town has that big of an impact. But his designs are fantastic to me

And as someone that moves away, his houses incapsulates Louisiana for me

Speaking of Jackson and rustic, good ole boy A Hays Town, here's a little red schoolhouse he designed:

This is what Fort Knox should look like. Or maybe San Quentin. Tough. Brutal. Just try to break in.

it is somewhat misleading to ask if ones likes him or not. his work was soooo far ahead of his time, which is what makes him so important.

The martin house is a block away from where I currently live here in Buffalo. Had a happy hour there for a work event and got to tour around, pretty interesting to see some of the different features.

I grew up in one of His homes. It was very livable and had a great layout. I honestly very much miss it and wish my parents would never have sold it.
