I was surprised when they built the one on Siegen.
Seemed crazy to build something that people hope to access daily (or so) in such a hellacious traffic mess.
But I guess a lot of you work near there.

I recall doing something similar. However, they kept charging my credit card anyway. It got to the point where I had to call Amex to see if they could decline all future transactions from them.

I work out at the LA Fitness in Slidell but Ive read the horror stories about the contracts. From why Ive read, it seems you need to send a letter in writing 30 days before you intend to cancel. From what Ive read online, it seems thats pretty much the only way it'll get done.
The location in Slidell has been pushing to get me to sign up for a personal training package but Im not doing it. The guy also pretty much made it clear he wasnt getting there for 5am when I train (not that it wouldve mattered anyway). Gotta say that the gym may suck with how pushy they are but its set up pretty nicely, is never super crowded, and I got a great deal. Paid 135 initially for registration along with first and last month, and then pay 24.99/month with no contract. Hell it was cheaper to go that route than to use the Blue Cross discount.

Please never ever ever ever pay for fricking personal training. Buy a book, whether it be bodybuilding, running, or whatever your goals are.
Don't pay for a glorified life coach to say "C'mon bro, keep going, one more rep" it's useless.
Download some music and get to work

I've been using the LAF in Slidell since a few months after they opened. Since they fired Ellis the cleanliness and maintenance have gone downhill. There's at least 3 broken doors in the building. How hard is it to get a door fixed? It seems all employees (from managers to trainers to custodians) have a very short life span there. Seems to be a different person at the counter every week.
They are way behind on their mombership numbers too. I like the place, it's not perfect, but what is really? It's convenient, the gym has plenty to offer (for my needs), I usually have the pool to myself, and the hours are good enough for me. I hope they can hold the place together. I still use Cross Gates from time to time because my kids are there 3-4 nights a week for swim practice. So I might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Cross Gates is an absolute nightmare during the summer.

FFS when I read threads like this I wonder if people have any clue that you can dispute credit card transactions. You could easily resolve this if you tell them to stop charging you and threaten to dispute the charges, or just dispute the charges.

This sounds like the kind of sketchiness the old
LA Sport and Fitness might have pulled.

I'm a member at LA fitness in Atlanta. If you want real results don't get one of them to help you. Find an individual working on their own with actual photos of results they can show you. A lot of people go join a gym and have really broad goals like "I want to lose weight" or "I want to get in better shape". With that lack of a plan even a good trainer can't help you. LA fitness trainers are there to collect a commission check. If they were good they wouldn't be helping old people get in shape at a national chain gym.
ETA: The best thing to do is find a buddy who is stronger/in better shape than you and tag along and be their workout partner. Have and set your obtainable goals, but have an accountability figure in the gym that can help you set them and keep them. Make sure they know what your goals are so they can call you out if you slack.

These are not broad at all.

We have disputed the charges. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this.
To the folks complaining about the Slidell gym, I know it has gone downhill since the GM has had control of that gym too.
