the prices were too high for me to partake in eating King crab. Fish and Chips and Salmon were great in Alaska

The Halibut was amazing though

Wait until you try fresh Ling cod.

I give my family in LA some of my halibut I catch but I don’t give away my Ling cod.

King Crab tastes great but it is like pretty much any other seafood in that it will take on the flavor of whatever you prep it with. Texture and heartiness though is great.

Jesus H...it's not tofu. It's one of the most tasty and decadent bites of seafood you can get. You "prep it" with water and maybe a little lemon.

Yes. Not what we would expect from boiled seafood in Louisiana, but it was good. It is buttery with a bit of salt and black pepper on the table. (You might bring some Tony's or Slap Ya Momma along.)
Not bad, but we normally got salmon instead.
I would just go to Jordan River Steamer.

So you remember Wards Cove Salmon Cannery? I worked there for the summer in 1986.

My first job there was to use a big squeegee broom to swop the guts down this drain that dumped them in the water under the wharf part of the cannery was built on. Thankfully, they later promoted me to the line where the label was put on the cans as they came down the line. My job was to make sure the hopper kept full of labels and to ensure the cans kept moving. I think I was making like $12 -$15 per hour. Not bad for a summer job for a 16 year old in the mid-80s.

Lived up there and it’s good ( I’m not a crab guy). If you’re up there, it’s worth it. Same as halibut and king salmon. You’ll know it’s fresh and not near what it costs here.

A lot of Louisians people in Alaska. A guy rom Natchitoches used to have a catfish place in Anchorage. Seems odd to fly in catfish when he had so much local seafood on his fmdoorstep but he did alright.

Crab has a good natural flavor, which is why it is so expensive.

Anyone have Texas Road House in Texas?

Anyone eat at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Louisiana?

How about Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kentucky?

They had a lunch special which included crab cakes, bisque, and I think a pound of KC and I think for the two of us each getting one it was north of 200 bucks

Yes, but my dad's friend prepared it and he was somewhat of a chef and from Louisiana. It was good but the garlic butter pretty much took over.

One day when I go up on a fishing trip I’m gonna bring my berl setup and go catch some myself and do a LA berl just like I do with Dungeness crab I catch.

markets in Homer where the boats come in priced their king crab at about 120% the price at HEB in Austin. Back up the highway in Soldatna , price was 45% of HEB
