Yeah, it's not a long-term diet.
I don't see why anyone would go keto for performance . Looks, yeah, but not performance.

Looks like another fad diet. Gotta love watching people cycle through these diets. Eating a balanced diet and staying relatively active will help you lose weight, and it's actually sustainable, whereas people go on these diets then stop and get fat again
As in a high fat diet? Do you mean "fad" as in the way the human being have eaten for their entire existence only to divert from that over the last few hundred years? If anything, the modern diet with "wheat everything", rice, starches and sugar is a fad.

We were never meant to eat carbs the way that a modern human does, especially a modern America
really?
so why are we living longer than ever before?

We have a "fatfrick syndrome" in America, mainly due to over consumption of carbs.
i do agree that we have some fat arse people in this country, but thats mostly do to an excess caloric intake, not eating carbs.

advances in medicine and a major decrease in infant mortality

the primary driver of this is via carbs (esp simple sugars)

You seriously want an answer for that?
It's certainly not because we are consuming more modern carbohydrates.

It's calorie restriction that leads to the weight loss. The same fad dieters like paleo all swear by some special physiological reasons for weight loss, but it is simply the extreme calorie restriction. And just like with paleo, the adherents of this fad diet go psycho on those who disagree with their faulty ideas.

Carbs aren't just white rice and bunny bread. Bananas, apples, grapes, pears, beans, all have carbs. They are also rich in things like vitamins, iron, fiber.
Carbs are necessary for muscle growth, energy, prevent disease, etc. MODERN MEDICINE tells us that.

i swear these people think they can eat 5000 calories worth of butter and lose weight because "no carbs!!!"

I dont necessarily eat paleo, but it's not a "fad". It is very much in line with the way the a human being is supposed to eat.

I can maintain the same exact body weight or mass, eat the same exact amount of calories, lift exactly the same way that I do right now and manipulate my bodyfat percentage either up or down by my carb intake. Im doing this right now as a matter of fact.

It's actually the opposite. I always find it odd when people actually advocate eating the way the modern humans do and dont think that starches are not good for you.

I do it every other year when I get ready for a show.
I did different versions over the years until I created my own keto diet that works for my body
It's a very popular diet in the bodybuilding world and pros have been doing it for years.
Tony Freeman swears by it
Dexter Jackson likes it
Trainer and Nutritionist Dave Palumbo is famous for his version of the keto diet

On it now. Love Keto. 2300 cal cut. Lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. Mostly water but it still needed to go. Keeps my energy level.

Aboslutely. But what so many people get confused about is that they think this means bread, rice, and pasta. Theyre all carbs arent they?
Beans and other legumes
Fruit
Vegetables and avocados
Nuts
You can consume all the carbs you need by eating these foods.
My carbs for the day today for example -
- Side Salad for lunch - broc, cauliflower, carrots, spinach, raddichio, romaine, 1/4 block of sharp cheddar, 1/2 chopped bell pepper, 1/4 cup black beans, 1/4 cup almonds. This fills up a 2 cup bowl.
- Large apple with about 3 tbsp peanut butter
- Large banana
- Large sweet potato with dinner
The rest of my calories are coming from alot of fat and protein.
Since it's Fri, Im drinking some Parish Envie so many additional carbs are coming from that. Typically, I dont drink during the middle of the week.

you're talking about something that i'm not
carbs are calories that are cheap, bot in price and value (they don't fill you up and are prone to over consumption).
carbs are "Expensive" in terms of calories b/c they're calorie-dense
the apple v. apple juice example is a good, simple one
the proliferation of sugar in our diet is adding cheap calories while changing our pallates to want sugar. that makes us fat

i did say esp simple sugars
think apple v. apple juice
apples have fiber and fill you up. you can only eat a few before you get full
you get that same amount of juice/sugar in a very small apple juice drink, and you aren't full at all
