Keep going back. Dr gave me meds etc. that didn't work and I kept going back. Eventually sent me for spinal tap that showed I had meningitis. Straight into hosp. Put on antibiotic and antiviral IVs and felt a million times better within 24. Took about 2-3 weeks of back and forth before correct diagnosis. Not saying you have meningitis, could be anything, but sometimes the correct diagnosis takes a little time. Go back and tell the Dr that his first treatment didn't work and let's try again.

Also had migraines. Imitrix took care of that. Pop a pill when I felt one coming on. Great drug. Finally outgrew my migraines (they tend to go away when you get into your fifties)

I've dealt with tension headaches for a while, I've found taking a melatonin is best for quick relief.

Clusters here. Nothing dull about them. If you're getting a migraine/cluster you won't function. I get mine in the same areas you are describing though. Behind the eye is the worst back to tightness all the way through the neck. Dr has me on verapamil for preventative and imitrex for relief. You may want your dr to give you a round of steroids. They seem to reduce the length of a cycle.

Mine started late teens. Get some Imitrex and keep on hand. shite works great.

I get tension headaches something fierce and the only thing that works for me is Midrin - not to be confused with Midol. I don't have the bottle with me, I think it's generic name is iso - something ish - mucate. Prescription only - miracle drug. I don't think it's scheduled.

Puck I've got same prob and largely the same drug regimen. I did switch to Norvasc(amlodipine) for prophylaxis and Imitrex(sumatriptan) for escapes. These drugs are a divine gift from God. I had clusters and migraines for 20 years before Imitrex came out and nothing helped me at all but corticosteroids and Cafergot until I got the toxic foot cramps which took about a week. They were less than ideal.

Migraines are brutal. I can't function with mine. I imagine getting a railroad spike right under the eye socket feels close to my migraine. I tried a bunch of different medicines and nothing worked until I tried Firocet. As long as I take it when the aura starts, medicine aborts it. It makes me loopy for a few hours but it's a great feeling compared to the migraine

I have migraines. Suffered with them for years before finally going to a neurologist. I've tried a few preventative meds but they all make my head to fuzzy for my liking. I like abortive migraine meds the bear. I'm prescribed to Maxalt. Ask your doctor about it. It will change your life. I was taking so much Advil/excedrine etc that it all stopped working. Maxalt has been a miracle. Shite works and works quick.

Luckily mine aren't that bad, but I've always wondered what doctors do to abort headaches that are that bad. Is there that serious of medicine that is able to provide instant relief? What the hell is it?
