As long as the water is running, I’ll be fine. We can go 2-3 weeks on what we have now.

People are dumb as frick

Made the mistake of going to Sams in BR for weekly shopping. It was apocalyptic.
Please tell your coworkers and all the other hoarders to go frick themselves.
Ps why is everyone loading up on Tp and bottled water?

It’ll probably be too late at that point though.

The panic is ridiculous. It's midboggling how mob mentality takes over a population.
shite like this is how you end up with distantopian futures.

Do you expect people this short sighted to have properly stocked pantries, freezers, and an emergency closet with 2-3 weeks of shelf-stable ready to eat food, water, and supplies?
I am not surprised they aren't prepared, but I expect an adult to have enough forethought to be prepared with supplies for at least a month or two. Panic buying every time a meteorologist is creaming their pants over some Hurricane Barely or other topic of the month is ridiculous. When there is a lull in frantic news coverage, go order some MREs/ freeze dried foods that will keep for a few decades, keep some water storage containers and filters on hand, FIFO with a few extra bags of dog food, and never worry again. It isn't that hard.

People want to be ruled. I got criticized yesterday for echoing your concerns. The only thing people are more afraid of than these made-up panics is actual freedom.

Yep. Lately I've been hearing more about th desire for a strong, wise, benevolent leader.
This a leader will never exist, and this desire is how you end up with violence and poverty.
We are 100% responsible for our own safety and protection. I'll live with a few risks in order to have more freedom. I'm a grown up and can navigate without being saved or protected.

Nah, this is stupid.
If it was bad enough that everything shut down. It would have already happened. And none of us would be posting because wed be dead already.

I bought 2 dozen country eggs from a farmer out of town, and every time I cook I make half for frozen leftovers and have 3 or 4 containers put away. I’ll go buy some coffee tonight and I already have ice cream. Cat has a bag of food and if shite really hits the fan, I’ll eat him.
All good in the Supa household.

End of December, beginning of January I read three or four books on Ebola detailing what a fluster cluck it was.
Then Honkus came on here and I read what he wrote and I started searching Google News.
By the end of January we had done resupplies. Our place has had one bad snow storm with no electricity for ten days, so we always can hang out that long (one neighbor has a well that's got its own generator). We rebought and replaced as I cooked through as always. And the annual deer meat gift from the guys who hunt our land was welcomed as always.
Even got a couple of long detailed books to read, may need to get more oil for our oil lamps.
About to plant my first planting of early lettuce.
Trying to break ourselves of rubbing our eyes.

Nah, I’m always stocked up. Since I expect, at some point, something catastrophic to happen, I’ve prepared pretty good. I mean, the direction our Country is going, the idiots trying to fundamentally change it from the inside, eventually that’s gonna come to a head and it’s gonna hit the fan. I’ve been saying this for years, we need a reset button.
As far as this thing goes? This doesn’t bother me. It’s being blown out of proportion in the media and all of the usual weaklings are freaking out.

we have three months of rice, beans, and various canned goods for variety along with a water purifier and enough ammo to protect our homestead.
But we always keep 3 months of stuff at the ready in case something like this occurs,
