I’m not worried about the coronavirus itself but I am worried about everybody panicking and stocking up on everything. I didn’t stock up on things just incase we are told to stay home for a few weeks. We have LSU thinking about no more face to face in classrooms and I went to Walmart on N Mall Dr last night, they were sold out on a lot of things that don’t usually happen unless a hurricane is coming. I have coworkers who went to Costco and bought over $500 worth of stuff just incase.

Not only are your coworkers idiots, but they are part of the problem. The average human being is a selfish, irrational actor. It’s why democracies collapse.

Nope.

But only because this is exactly what I expected: the virus being meh for me but stores in chaos.

Did my hoarding before the rush, and loaded up my freezer with meats/frozen veggies.

My medical director (who is an infectious disease specialist) as well as everyone else in my department (infection control) is not panicking and is not going crazy hoarding supplies. People seriously need to calm the frick down.

When I see her exhibit any of that behavior....then I’ll be worried.

It seems like the panic over this shite is worse than the Ebola which to me seemed waaaaay worse. I keep thinking I’m missing something.

Other than stupidity and the media, is there any reason, even marginal, to be so worried about this thing?

When I see today, video of hordes surrounding medical facilities, mass excavations or pyres in regions of the world that corona virus was detected a month ago, then I will begin to worry.

Many people drive nice cars, have boats and 4 wheelers, and are mortgaged to the hilt on $100,000 a year in income and are living paycheck to paycheck.

Do you expect people this short sighted to have properly stocked pantries, freezers, and an emergency closet with 2-3 weeks of shelf-stable ready to eat food, water, and supplies?

Not worried. Got a freezer full of deer meat and a backyard full of squirrels.
