This is a pretty tough time of year for a lot of families. People get emotional and turn to drugs and alcohol as a way to cope with the pain.

The worst part is right after Christmas.

This thread is making me think there is no God. Why would he punish us like this?

Was talking to one of my female coworkers about Christmas plans and all the different parties I have coming up and she tells me she doesn't talk to her family and usually spends Christmas Day at a friends house with their family. I put a note on my calendar to text her Christmas morning that she's a great person.

Some deep shite, do what you can to help, give of your time, give of your excess, but focus and live your life and take care of your family. Let all the other shite fall where it may.

Pretty much sums it up. It's just unreal how depressing this time of year is.

Every now and then cause this will be the first Christmas without both my parents, lost mom jan 14 and dad this past jan...but then I remember they would hate that I was upset about it. Just miss them.

Stay active and do some cardio. Keeps your head clear.
I'm gonna try to hit the gym every day for the next two weeks for that reason alone.

Peace be with you mpar.

Our celebration of the birth of Christ is a randomly chosen day of the year. It is not the actual day He was born. Our daily happiness and sorrows are no different from day to day during this season.

God is not provable. That is why we say we have to have faith. If the burdens of life went away during a particular event we would have proof.

To OP's point. yes, I do miss my parents just a bit more during this time of the year. That can be a good thing though.

It can happen this time of year.

I recently got some excellent news regarding the health of a girl the same age as my daughter. IMO, it is nothing short of a miracle. I'm not very emotional, but I have difficulty telling her story w/o getting choked up. Thank God for M.D. Anderson.

Anyhow baw, Merry Christmas to you.
