All my childhood friends left NOLA area. I have a few college friends around south LA.
My best childhood friend actually lives in Dallas. We are not as close now but we get together every few months for dinner.

No. Anybody worth having as a friend wouldn’t fault anyone for leaving my hometown. Same goes for the whole state. Place sucks.

Yes - the older you get the least important these people become to you

My sister left to Georgia but her friend stayed and she’s the same person just with more kids and police record. My sister has a great career but her friend looks down upon my sis for not having kids.

Moved at 17 but still have family there and fortunately have several close friends that I still get to hang out with a few times/year when visiting. It’s nice to have roots in two places.

I left my hometown 12 years ago and miss it at times. Sometimes I look to see what jobs are available in the area and think of going back. It seems like whenever I visit, though, the place has changed so much that I'm not sure I would really want to live there again.

I don’t miss the small town vibe of everyone knowing your business. Moved out and started with a clean slate. Friends are overrated. If later in life you have 5 true friends, you are doing good. Facebook has distorted the definition of what a friend truly is.

My friends in my hometown live in the coolest place.
