I don't see a lot of the acts even coming to La. Maybe it's because we haven't officially opened yet. I'm starting to think that the music acts just avoid La like the plague.
This has been going on well before the pandemic - lot of tours will go from Pensacola/Atlanta <--> Houston/Dallas with an off day in between that used to be a New Orleans/BR date years ago, not sure why that changed. Taxes maybe?

I have inside sauces. RIP Varsity. The megalith that is Chimes will be expanding into that space.
Wouldn’t surprise me. I’d bet on many nights, those extra seats at the Chimes would be worth more than The Varsity. The Varsity is also in dire need of a modernization.
At the same time, they probably have the best building out of any of the current venues in town. So it’s a shame if they shut down.

Keiland Williams' calves used to start a lot of mess too.

Varsity is dead, baw. Some dudes I know are trying to pool money together to buy it and reopen, but Covid killed it. It was already struggling before COVID after losing their talent buyer. Hopefully, someone local with good booking instincts will buy it and restore it to its former glory.

Just need Gabe to book the right bands--Better Than Ezra, Meantree, Thoughts of Mary, Funkhaus, Stone Poets, etc--to help The Varsity return to glory.

Chimes is the most overrated spot in BR.

Red stick social is a nice venue for bands and shows but it seems like no one wants to go there
The acoustics inside are absolutely horrible

I love the Varsity but the past year or 2 the talent has been terrible. It’s been nothing but death metal like frickin Gwar and Cannibal Corpse. Who wants to see that shite?

Death metal peeps, but I agree. They lost their booking manager to Laberge and the quality and variety of acts took a major nosedive.

Nah, Chris sucked. That new guy that was Mannie Fresh’s manager was WAY better.

First the Caterie, now the Varsity..... Poor baton rouge, at least they have Boudreaux and Thibodeaux's
Spanish moon as well.
Lafayette's music venues are dying off too. Wild Salmon died a few years back, now artmosphere is dead.

That's a shame. I remember seeing a few great concerts there. Better Than Ezra was excellent there, and I got introduced to their opening band Ingram Hill, which I really enjoyed. Their June Picture Show CD was one of my favorites. I know I also saw Blindside and Trapt, and 30 seconds to Mars before they hit mainstream. There are many other smaller shows as well.
