I’m a member of the unlucky/drive like s hit club. Early 00s odyssey transmission failed at 110k. Sheer luck that a class action lawsuit extended warranty coverage to 111k.

2022 w/10k.
Engine has been solid.
2 batteries under warranty and multiple electrical issues associated with infotainment center.

I will probably consider the Sienna- but Toyota sales experience was the reason I didnt buy it.

It’s the used car market right now. Nothing makes sense anymore.

About to trade in my wife’s 2017 RAV4 for a 2023 Odyssey EX-L. Expecting our third and outgrowing her RAV4. The sliding seats sold her on the Odyssey vs something like the Sienna. Plus like you said the lack of availability for the Sienna.

Buy a newer model. 2011-2018 has piston ring issues, oil spilling onto the spark plugs, etc.

We had a Sienna, but Honda offered market value on trade, so we moved over to Honda. We are at 88k miles on a 2016 and haven’t had a single issue yet (knock on wood).

Many things we still prefer about the Sienna, but we looked at them last year and the dealers had none on hand to even test drive and I’m not waiting months for a van I’ve never even drive , so we just decided to wait.

So many families we know have Odysseys, (including a brother) I have never heard of anyone having issues.

For the record, we had over 100k on the Sienna, which was 5 years old at trade, and it had experienced transmission issues. It’s probably luck of the draw.

This is still the damn case. I've been around the world with 5+ dealers trying to find one to look at/drive. shite most are saying it will still be over a year before I can get a Platinum. The guy at the dealer in Houston thinks he can get me one by June (we have a road trip coming up then) but they are charging 5+ thousand over MSRP and I'm not too thrilled about that. The Odyssey I'm not sold on because it looks too damn van-ish...I'm not trying to lean into getting old.

I'm looking heavily now at the Kia Carnival....looks great (even better than the Sienna in my view), has the most tech combined of all three, and has more cargo area by volume than the other two. Also, the dealers have told me that I can expect delivery within 12 weeks at the longest and usually sooner than that for an SX Prestige.

I can confirm this. I have Oddy 2012 and had to change the spark plugs last year. It was an easy job.

The engine will let you know when it starts misfiring. It started occasional for me and I didn't know what was going on, but I researched online and came up with the piston ring issue. A code reader told me which spark plug was misfiring, I opted to change all 6. 60-70 dollars at Autozone for all 6, 1-2 hours of free labor, and I was done. I even did it on a hot summer morning.

With my Oddy, I have to change the oil way before the maintence minder tells me (before 30%). Otherwise, I will be a quart or 2 low from the oil burn off or evaporation since it uses such a light 0W20 oil.

Other than that, it is a great vehicle, I changed the brake pads and rotors last year myself. I will probably drive it till the wheels fall off. It is paid for and I am living car note free.

Owned 3 of them and would recommend to anyone with young kids. By far the best option as the SUV’s the majority of ppl buy are way overpriced and not as functional.

Kia Carnival....looks great

Hopefully, they fixed their leaky lock issue or your insurance will not insure you. Also, KIAs are not know for their reliability and can fall apart on you. They can also be notorious for denying warranty claims.

So remember KIA stands for: Kick In the Ass

I have a 2011 sienna.

It's getting time look for another...

I've been looking at everything. If it were me now and my van blew up I'd buy the last year sienna didn't have a hybrid over the Honda offerings...

Do not want the hybrid. Their v6 is bulletproof. Their leather is nice and if you a bigger guy (I'm 6'4 and 230) the drive seat and area is nicer imo

Their last 4 years of odyssey have had issues. Especially the transmission programming issues people are fighting.

Honda genuine leather holds up well. I see tons of older Hondas and other brans of older vehicles. Various jobs over time. Their interior holds up amongst the best. I see many an Odyssey with high mileage. Some have issues, but typically with proper maintenance, they are reliable 200,000+ mile vehicles.

We sold our 2008 Honda Odyssey XL last year with 280,000 miles on it. I've been driving minivans since 1987 because my daughter uses a wheelchair. The Odyssey was the best vehicle to drive overall. It had a V6 engine because it was the sport model, so that may be why. The only downside is that if you plan on driving it like we did for a long time, the drive train replacement every 100,000 miles is a very expensive preventative maintenance cost. Thousands of $. I don't know if this is still a recommended maintenance. Every thing I read said to do it if you planned on keeping the van over 10 years like we did.

Our newest adaptive van is a Toyota Sienna. It doesn't drive quite as well as the Honda as a new vehicle.

Had a 2015 with 3 kids before it got totaled last year. No issues. And held up to their wear and tear with leather. Would recommend
