All my kinfolks are at the St Bridget graveyard.Mom finished school at Lawtell High.I havent been since my pawpaws funeral several years ago.
My pawpaw owned the Bertrand lumber yard way back when.At least thats what they tell me...The only thing I saw him own was a Pall Mall and a bottle of JD.

Not from Opelousas but I remember the old St. Landry parish sheriff, Cat Doucet. He told a story once about one of his deputies that came into the office and said he tried to catch a speeder but the guy out ran him. Doucet told he needed to go the grocery store. The deputy asked why. The sheriff told he needed a bottle of ketchup (catch up) !!!!

Born and raised. Left at 17, never lived there again. All my favorite things about Opelousas are food related.

My mom's maiden name is Lafleur. I was born in Opelousas, but grew up in Ponchatoula. I spent every summer in the hay fields off 104 in prairie ronde. My dad is also from Opelousas. He's related to the Bertinot's.
