Aaron A Dugan worked as a Firefighter 1 for Orleans Parish, Louisiana and in 2019 had a reported pay of $13.39/HR according to public records.
this is from your link, people forget you have guys like this and all those youth workers that make under $15/hr would have to be moved up under the democrats plan to increase minimum wage.
So they will raise wages and just tax you more to pay for it.

They have a difficult time understanding it. This board confuses the issues up north where Civil workers game the system with overtime to teachers who put their money in the retirement system.

No... It's not that simple...
Are you sure? I thought that 25 years of service would qualify you for the 2.5% benefit factor. If you work < 24 you would get some sort of actuarial formula.
25 years of service x 2.5% benefit factor x 5 year average salary = pension.

Yep. Takes most state workers 40 years to be fully vested.
40 years? Try 20.
Well, we know you're qualified for state work.

Highest 3 years x 2.5% (unless hazardous duty) x years of service............it's that simple

Are you as state worker, cause that would explain a lot.

Thought so. Banking on that anyway. Some ole boy prior was trying to make it out like it was really complicated.

It is kind of complicated now because Jindal had the rules changed so which rules apply to someone depends on when they were hired.

Over 2,200 people on that list making over 6 figures.
Seems excessive....

And you have to get to page 56 before you find a person under 100k.
Have to sort by year, otherwise you are double counting I think.
sorting by this year only, it's page 21

He was saying to get 100% of your salary. Not just to be able to retire (and get 62.5% in your example).

Rewarding someone who contributed to society for 30 years is what’s killing America?
My friends who teach have all been retiring around age 48 and will collect pensions and pay next to nothing for health insurance for the rest of their lives.
So yeah. This is, in every way, worse than the fricked up pension system that bankrupted the American auto makers.

Yep. Pensions for govt workers need to go the way of the dodo bird. Move them to a 401k system like the rest of us.

Just did a quick search.

The Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS) has seen a significant increase in public pension debt in the last two decades. With $7.1 billion in unfunded liabilities, the retirement security of Lousiana’s state workers and retirees may be in jeopardy.

But we had a 500 million dollar surplus?

The genius strikes again.
The fact of the matter is that it is cheaper for the state of Louisiana to run its own pension system than it is for them to pay the employer share of the federal taxes they would otherwise have to pay.

I didn’t realize that state troopers made so much

Prepare to be unhappy if you are a taxpayer. Every salary includes a pension.
Nope, that's bullshite.
You have to be with the state at least 10 years to be eligible for the pension and even then you're only vested at ***2.5% of your salary*** for every year you've worked.
*** - For most state jobs the formula is +2.5% for each year you were with the state, up to 100% at 40 years. This amount is of the average of your 3 highest-earning years.
Not all state jobs are this way. For example the State Police pension is 100% at 20 years.
Teachers have their own system.
EDIT: had 2.2% stuck in my head for some reason instead of 2.5%
