The dueling Haunted houses from the radio stations WIBR and WFMF.

Bmx biking everywhere.

Swimming in interstate ponds with alligators

BREC football

The Catholic kids basketball league

Giant neighborhood dirt clubber wars

Dumpster diving for porn mags

Throwing tennis balls at wasp nest

Going to hospital from jumping ramps with bikes, getting hit in the head with dirt clubs which were actually rocks, street skates, or lawn darts.

Walking 5 miles through ditches etc to go to Kmart to make mixed up drinks. (They had only self serve)

Banning together to beat the shite out of the neighborhood bully.

Handling shite among each other, some times it involved a fist fight due to raging hormones and lack of outlet, but we always made up and shook hands

Older Girls that didn’t wear bras.

Being totally fricking free to roam around and do whatever you wanted with your friends until 6 to 7 pm and parents not giving a shite as long as you were home for dinner.

We had many great adventures, made lots of mistakes, many trips to the hospital, (we didn’t even tell parents about wasp stings and anything that didn’t require 3 stitches) but we were free. And we all survived fine.

So Richie, Dewayne and Wendell. Here is to you guys.

I went to Kenilworth from '73-'76. Do you remember Miss Blanco the Spanish teacher?

was at LSU during the 70s, the greatest of times, pretty much no rules, no bras, everybody was cool and ready to party, girls were very affectionate, cool mix of guys returning from Vietnam going to school on the GI bill and resurgence of Greek life, Ted Schirmer on the soapbox every day, loved it

Neddy’s pond . The huge bar pit that was where the Sam’s and Wal Mart are on Siegan Lane. Big hippie hangout we used to ride dirt bikes and smoke $10 Mexican weed back there.

Siegan was gravel from the interstate to Highland.

Great times. I was born in 69. Lived in Baton Rouge most of the 70s. Played for the BREC PAL/Barouco Bengals. Rode my bike from flannery to Florida and Airline and the skate city on Florida. Went to the pool at Sherwood Forest country club every day over the summers. I could go on and on but these are little kid things so it’s probably lame to most.

Was this a 70’s thing? I was there during a pretty bad brawl in the 90’s and assumed I would go to jail for life just for being there.

I starred at Tinseltown in the distance and thought about how much I’d rather be beefing with Catholic High dudes in the parking lot than dealing with the public school shite I fell into.
