They don't really have to try. If they send out 1000 texts and one person bites, its worth their while.
I am the one in this scam.
I am usually the one to spot this shite and alert my family, but I guess my guard was down.
Mine went down two years ago. I had three kids with cars in my name. The scam was an overdue toll over a bridge that I knew my kids had used. I went so far as to pay it and entered my card. I didn't clue in until they said the card wasn't good and wanted another.
Jeez.
Of course I canceled the card. You can additionally have Equifax, ect. flag your report that a new creditor has to verify your identity before opening an account.
How stupid.

I've gotten the long text from the "Tennessee DMV" (even though I've lived in GA for 10 years now) probably 5 times over the past 2 weeks.
12 digit phone number should give it away if nothing else.

My son got one today saying he has an unpaid toll. He thought it was real because he just went across the causeway yesterday even though he paid the toll. Glad at his age he still calls me to check these things for him.

My elderly mother called and asked about it. Told her a scam.
I tell her everything is a scam and let me look at anything before pay or give information. So far she asks me so no luck for scammers.

I’ve been getting one that says if I don’t pay the ticket for a toll violation that I supposedly never paid. I couldn’t tell you the last time I went through a toll booth. They used the same old text that said if I didn’t pay my license would be suspended

These type of scams target elderly folks who don’t know any better. My Dad in his early stage of dementia might have fallen for it.
Scammers should be executed.

Got one for Texas yesterday. Even had a great spammy url to click on so my license wouldn't get revoked.
