Also class of ‘96.

Stanislaus is not a military school by any means. My friends from home went to Catholic, and they had stricter rules than we did at Stanislaus.

Buddy I worked with a few years ago went to Lyman Ward back in the 1960s. He ended up serving on submarines in the 1970s and 80s

Yeah. I had to out them in their place about their stance on herb and open their eyes to a few other things. For the most part they pretty good people. Small town folk but somewhat open minded. Lucky to have them. They kept me grounded but allowed me to learn for myself. I'm delaying moving far away cause not sure how many years I got left with my pop. He's had 3 knee replacements. Hip surgery, spinal fusion surgery. Stints. Arythmia thing, hearing aids. Still sharp as a tack. He'd probably be a good candidate to become full robot with as much metal as he has in him.

One of my friends was about to get expelled from Christian school and his dad pulled him out of school before the expulsion and sent him to Oak Ridge Military Academy. He ended up saying later on that he kind of enjoyed it. His dad dad owned a Chevrolet dealership and he ended up working there later on. But he got fired from that job so I’m not sure the military school taught him to be any more responsible. His dad spent a lot of time racing cars so I think he just sent him to military school so he wouldn’t have to deal with him. The guy turned out all right though. He wasn’t a bad kid to begin with just a prankster. He grew out of that eventually.

My father threatened me several times. Little did he know i would later join the USMC willingly in the middle of a war with active combat.

Not military school, but went to some summer classes at Stanislaus.

That was our threat - keep your arse straight or you’re sent to Chamberlain Hunt. In my young mind it was synonymous with Parchman.

St Stanislaus was always the threat... my folks said you can man up and play sports with your friends at a real school or you can be a pussy and suit up with a bunch of private school dickwads.

The private school option was an absolute joke, for the obvious reasons

Did first thru fifth grades at New Orleans Academy. Had drill with old toy wooden M1 looking rifles every morning. Had to wear a tie and have the shoes shined. I was not a bad kid my Dad was a Navy guy so I guess he liked the idea.

No. I went on my own accord because I thought I'd fail out of a regular college...

Are you insinuating that private schools aren't good at sports?

I deeply threatened my son last year. Even called Marine Military Academy in Texas. St.Stanislaus is a joke in my opinion.

Stanislaus now is nothing like Stanislaus in the 90’s.

With Brother Joseph gone, almost nothing there now resembles what we saw then.

My parents would have sent me if they had the money, but it was usually just a belt from dad or a yard stick on the knuckles from a nun. Their favorite mind game was to have my uncle, who was a high up in the NOPD send cops to handcuff me, throw me in the back of a cop car and pretend to take me to lockup. Kind of harsh for not doing homework.

Agreed.

My parents (mother especially) thought mediocre grades were a quasi-criminal offense.

I was sent on a whirlwind tour of SE boarding schools (Baylor. McCallie, Episcopal, Woodbury, St. Stanislaus, Lyman Ward, Marion, Darlington, Webb School... I think that’s it).

Many of those schools are enjoyed. Lyman and Marion were outliers. Lyman was flat out creepy. A few years after my visit the dude who showed us around was convicted of doing some unspeakable things of a sexual nature
to students.

Well I guess he showed them.
