I guess the heat has gotten to them or they have migrated to cooler temps.

This is closer to the truth than you know. Most nesting and fledging is done. A lot of migratory birds are beginning to flock and are feeding, fattening up in preparation for the trip south. They generally leave their nesting areas this time of year, some come back to roost, others will roost in communal roosts. Our Summer hasn't been really hot, and it is still happening here. There's less activity at the birdbaths, a little less chatter (the crows are still at it), and the wrens are still nesting, but it has slowed down like it usually does this time of year. When it gets really hot and dry they will seek out shade and a water source.

In this kind of weather, put out a bird bath. They need water and that will bring them to the yard.

I don't feed during the Summer months. I do during the late Fall, into Winter, and early Spring. There's more than enough for them to eat this time of year.

The Purple Martins have been gone a couple weeks now, and have just about stopped returning for the evening. The Tree Swallows have gone, too. I had three pair successfully fledge this year. Both them and the Martins only have one brood. I have one pair of Blue Birds nesting now. They have all had somewhere around 6 or 7 broods total this year. The early Spring/late cold got at least two sets of eggs and set them back for the year. I ran across a mixed flock of Tree and Barn swallows the other day feeding over a creek. There were probably a couple hundred of them.

Something interesting to watch on weather radar this time of year is roost rings. You can spot them early in the morning, right around first light. So many birds leave communal roosts at the same time that they show up on radar as a perfect ring. It happens fast, but is cool to see.

My backyard sounds like the garden section at Home Depot because I just filled up the bird feeder.

My neighbor brings this up with me all the time. My morning doves disappeared about 5 years ago after 15 years of constant chatter. In a related note, these hawks look fat AF.

We have three bird feeders because my wife likes birds. I have to refill them every other day.

I don't even want to know how much I'm spending on bird seed.

You must live in a no fly zone.

their lithium batteries get drained by the heat and causes their listening devices to get overheated.

I have doves, mockingbirds, and cardinals in my yard daily. While cutting grass yesterday a large hawk was sitting under the oak tree in my backyard.

The magpies aren't around in Missoula right now. Highs have been in 70s/low 80s, but it was hot for a few weeks before this, so not sure if they took a vacation to Canada or what.

Well..I have not heard them in Baton Rouge in at least a couple of weeks. Dead silent. Nothing in the trees.

Probably because developers have been busy bulldozing every acre of forest in BR to build new zero lot line neighborhoods.

Just wait until barn swallows find your house. They come back to my house every year. I used to hate them.. but turns out these little mini warplanes are mosquito eating machines. So I just live with them a few months.

We get a ton of house finches. Recently we had one build a nest in one of my wreaths on our big front bay window. They’ve used the nest two different times this year and had a batch of three each time.

As said, put out a feeder with a bevel (to keep squirrels out). We get finches, cardinals, blue jays, grackles, Carolina chickadees, woodpeckers, etc.

In Bossier, go to the WalMart or Krogers parking lot on Airline Dr. Those mutant parking lot birds are freaking everywhere.

Wish I couldn’t hear the green parrots that are all over Fort Lauderdale. Cool at first, but they are so loud, all the time.

Most of them are shite arse House Sparrows. You should kill them on site, and laugh at the reactions of the "animal lovers" who will protest and threaten to call the police.

A bird of prey picked up my golf ball at copper mill last weekend. Because of that I didn't take a drop.

Congrats on the eagle.
