Anybody else confused as frick by the NORAD Santa tracker flight plan?

He keeps changing direction because he has so many presents to keep track of he forgets to deliver some and has to backtrack.
But his sleigh is so fast the change in direction doesn't matter. Santa will get here.

I tried to use the opportunity to be a good drunk father and explain the "traveling salesman" problem to him. His mom and him both looked at me like I was an idiot.

ETA and now he's heading east, this doesn't make sense.
