Anybody else besides me sick of technology?

Dear Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, Truth, MySpace, TigerDroppings,
I build websites for a living. I do a lot of programming, etc. which means I am not some “out of touch with technology” boomer.
It just seems that everything with technology just sucks. Of course it’s great when it works but it’s crazy how every single day something stupid happens.
Everything from routers to wi-fi to appliances to cars to Nest thermostats.
Every single day there is an issue with something that has to do with technology.
For example (tonight) I’m wanting to chill a little and watch a movie or something. The remote control doesn’t work. Ok, no biggie, I’ll just replace the batteries. NOPE.
Called up Xfinity where I basically had to get through the AI bullshite press 1 or say something crap.
Unplug everything, reboot everything. NOPE.
Finally get through to a real human being. After 30 minutes on the phone they determined my remote has an issue.
Now I can’t use Xfinity until I get a new remote from them. Friday I should have my new remote. Can’t use Xfinity without their special cutting-edge remote control.
My refrigerator is fricked up. 2 years old (LG) will not get cooler than 47 degrees
My washing machine 1-2 years old is fricked up - the spin cycle doesn’t work
My Nest thermostat on my AC will not cool the fricking house. It’s always 79 degrees. I have rebooted it, changed all of the settings a hundred times, nothing. The actual AC unit is in perfect shape.
My 2022 car has rain sensors on the windshield. I never use the rain sensors because they are annoying when it actually does rain. Hasn’t rained in 4-5 days and the windshield wiper just stay on all day long (even though the sensor setting is turned off) - gotta take that into the shop to get fixed now
Ok, no tv whatever.
Go to check my schedule for tomorrow - I use a program called Acuity. Oh, they are down for maintenance until 6:00am PST (9:00 my time)
Well shite, I’m just going to burn sometime before bed and play MLB the big show on the Nintendo. NOPE - their system is down.
It’s just unbelievable how we have all of this technology but everything seems to not work correctly every single day.
Thanks for listening to me rant.

Should have been a farmer then, things never go wrong and flow easy. That just how things go bucko.

As my dad used to tell me, all that fancy stuff is just more shite that can break. So freaking true.

For someone who hates technology, you seem to surround yourself with a lot of it

Take a vacation and unplug for a week or two and report back.

I agree actually.
Even though its a Tuesday, id be on bourbon number 2 or 3 if all that shite happened to me within 24 hours

It’s 100% true.
I have an alarm clock that is literally 15 years old and it never skips a beat. Nothing fancy, no wi-fi.. just a simple alarm clock. It has never let me down

Tl:Dr but yes, tech has jumped the shark
The innovation is gone and now the tech companies have become tyrants that tell us how to think and act according to what they want us to do
It's all gone to shite.
I saw where the big breakthrough of the new Android OS is that it will lecture you on gender and pronouns and fix it for you when you misgender someone

You needed to add the “sent from my iPhone” sig to that post.

Ted Kaczynski already wrote a manifesto so you wouldn’t have to.

So true about jumping shark.
It’s like they have a great product and they keep adding “bloatware” to it with every upgrade or update and it makes the once great product complete shite.
They add the dumbest shite to things that don’t need it. When they keep adding the dumb shite it causes issues.
People think we will have self driving/flying electrical cars - frick all that shite - technology can’t even cool my fricking house in the summer, what makes me think it will be able to drive me from point A to point B? It’s all horseshite

I have similar credentials as yourself with a background in both IT and programming.
I love tech, but I try to keep most things simple. Not everything aspect of my life needs technology. I don't have much smart home bullshite for example.

The only smart thing I have in my home is the Google Nest
I wouldn’t call my appliances and all that smart. They are simple appliances. I can’t help the fact that’s all there is now is appliances with shiny computer screens.
In fact they are dumb as frick right now - very far from smart
Don’t even get me on a rant about AI - that’s all fake bullshite and the average person doesn’t even realize it.
