Any tips on becoming more assertive?

Its not a great Thanksgiving story, but I may have been a little aggressive yesterday. Normally I am very passive and let people run over me, but when I am not passive, I skip over assertive and go great to aggressive.
Figure some of you baws have mastered the art of staying between pushover and a-hole. Any tips?

You gotta shank someone once. Once is all it takes.

I would say it starts with you.
You sound self conscious and seem to lack confidence.
You need to lose that before anything.

Things were a little off schedule and someone was complaining about everything - my wife was freaking out and I told them they were being a piece of shite and to be patient.
I went too far but something needed to be said.

First off, there is a difference between being passive and lacking self confidence. I thought they were similar until I really started working on my own self confidence.
Build your own internal locus of control. Put yourself out there more, doing things past your comfort level. Go skydiving, hike, learn a new skill on YouTube, and meditate to learn about yourself. All of these things help build self confidence.
Self confidence is the key to being assertive when the time is right.

Title your thread:
Tell me how to be more assertive.
Seriously, any writing advice starts with writing sentences that are not passive.

Be like Spongebob and become more "insertive" instead.

The verbiage use of “to be” is criminal

Being assertive is just looking out for yourself and having confidence in what you do. Don’t let people give you shite, get what you want, and don’t stay silent.
