when I am not passive, I skip over assertive and go great to aggressive.
I think I put up with behavior from others that annoys me or aggrevates me without saying anything so as to not offend them, then they continue doing it and then I kinda lose it and go off on them.
The secret I think is to ask politely to stop such behavior before I get really aggregated by them.
I used this technique recently in a waiting room at a doctors office. A lady was texting on her phone, and her phone would make a click for every letter she would type, and it was unbelievably loud. Click clack click click clack clack! Everyone sitting around me was getting aggregated and rolling their eyes and she was just oblivious to her actions. After a couple minutes of her doing it, I said, "Ma'am, could you please turn the volume on your phone down? It's really loud." She apologized and turned the volume off and kept texting. Two different ladies looked at me and whispered "Thank you".
If I would have sat there for a couple more minutes getting more aggregated by her, I probably would have said something not so nice either in tone or actual language, like, "Ma'am, your aggrevating the shite out of me and everyone else in here. Are you deaf or just stupid?"

Assertive would then try to bang one of them.

I told them they were being a piece of shite and to be patient.
Hey, if you can't call out family for being a POS on Thanksgiving, who can you call out?

And while we're on this subject, I think today's fricking PC culture has made people less apt to call out bad behavior in others.
I fricking hate PC culture and have made a point of being more assertive in public in calling out bad behavior. I've definitely done it more in the past couple years than in my whole lifetime.
I think more people should challenge bad behavior in public or it will only get worse.

Things were a little off schedule and someone was complaining about everything - my wife was freaking out and I told them they were being a piece of shite and to be patient.
May have gone without the pos comment but what exactly was over the line?
