Any stories of companies spying on employees web cam/microphone?

I know there always seems to be ocassional the school district spied on my kids school laptop

Wonder if we have any good stories of work doing the wrong thing

My wife got a message from the district to download something so she can monitor what her students are doing on their laptops. Problem is, I think it allows for 24/7 access. Yes, it's the district's laptops but still, that's a bit excessive in my opinion. My wife refuses to download it because as she says, "that's the job of someone else who gets paid a lot more".

That's all they track that goes on in the vehicles, right? They don't check for other stuff, do they?

If my work PC has a camera they for sure going to see me working my boxer briefs.

I limit my spying to overweight middle aged guys. Less liability.

I was in a Webex meeting several years ago where all the cameras suddenly switched on (it’s company policy to not do web conferencing unless absolutely necessary to conserve bandwidth).

I mostly work from home so no big deal for me, but there has been a strip of black electrical tape over the camera since then.
