The EPA and their emission controls mandates have seriously degraded the performance of all small engines.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge Stihl has issues with carburetors.
Have you ever run a little Seafoam through with your gas?

My Weedeater is an old John Deere But I have a Farmboss 390. The only issue I ever had with it was the gas line dry rotted.

For the weedeater question, I got the JD because it had a bigger motor and straight shaft. I had always heard that the bigger motors didn't have all of the carburetor issues.

Doesn't matter as long as you buy non ethanol gas. I buy the pre mix without ethenol and it starts very quickly .

I have an echo straight shaft I bought in 07. Once a week from April to October I cut my grass (and a few times from oct to April, maybe once a month) which involves 1 hour of intense weed eating (cutting the bayou side, wide open throttle). Always starts first crank. If this one ever dies, I'm buying the exact same one.

I'm a firm believer in Husqvarna.

You can never go wrong with a Husky!

I have always had Echo and my neighbor has Stihl.

If you keep them long enough you will need to change the primer bulb and diaphragm. Fuel and time degrade these parts regardless of manufacturer. But the parts are cheap and they are easy to fix. Throw on an occasional new air filter and spark plug and that is it for PM.

My Husqvarna went for 11 yrs and still runs but needed a little work, so I got me another Husqy last year. Great machine.

I read this wrong but I'm gonna give my answer anyways becuase I already spent time thinking about it. Girl Scout Cookie is probably my current fave. Smells good, tastes good, and stony as frick. Also like Pineapple Express. Also like Purple Kush but it's a straight indica so don't make any plans.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge Stihl has issues with carburetors. I have a commercial Stihl pole saw that I have to get the carb replaced in every year. Just had it done along with a tune up. It's $100 every year to have all of that done.

No carb problems with my Stihl FS-56 in the 5 years I've had it. Love the Easy-Start feature. The only maintenance I have to do is clean the spark arrestor screen once every year or so. Otherwise, it loses power and begins to sputter and die. The gas station by Costco has the 89 octane EtOH-free gas.
