Subaru Outback.

near 60+ thousand miles on it though
A Toyota with 60,000 miles is just being broken in. That is nothing.

Don’t get an SUV. You can get a very nice, slightly used Lexus es350 in that range!

I have a Ford Escape as a company vehicle- I put around 45,000 per year on it - it’s ok but it’s free. Cloth seats, no satellite radio. I’d spend a little more and find one with a satellite radio.
We don’t have many options with suvs, this is my third escape. I had a Chevy equinox but the company doesn’t offer it anymore. I had a Jeep Compass but some jackass rear ended me and it was totaled.

Was telling someone earlier about my wife's 2015 Honda Pilot. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, like big display, or tvs for the kids, but it is a straight up tank. We have had 0 mechanical issues with it and it has over 115k miles.

I would get a used highlander or pilot in that range with low miles.
I'm about to sell a 2016 with 41K miles on it, and will ask about $24k.

Good to know, I don’t know much at all about the Jeep except their windshields which are the easiest to replace

2015 Honda Pilot with as few miles as allows for that price range.

SUV around 20-25k?

Doesn’t necessarily have to be new
It’s not going to be new. If you want full size it’s not going to even be under 60k miles

Try a used CRV or RAV4.

I have a 2017 GMC Terrain. It's a good car and not real expensive. The newer models look nicer too. I was in a major car accident and it kept me safe. Guy ran a red light and hit into me. I so appreciative that I got another one.

A Chevy equinox but don’t expect anything more than great gas mileage
Current gen is pretty good, but the base model is really slow.

The current generation is a great vehicle, but they have catastrophically stupid front armrests.

Grand Cherokee 4WD
I have a friend of mine that has a 2 wheel drive. Besides getting horrible gas mileage it has been problem after problem for him. Also you can expect to get worse gas mileage than he does because of the AWD

The Grand Cherokee are more a traditional SUV/truck set up than most of the other things being mentioned here. If you are looking for that not many options in that size other than 4Runner which are usually a good bit more.

Sure you can. Brand new 2021 Subaru Outbacks and Foresters can be gotten for under 25k without all the bells and whistles.

Ford explorer, would have to be used, but I loved the one we had. For that range, you could probably get one that is 2-3 years old with the limited package.

Forester yes. A brand new Outback would be the poverty grade model. Maybe look at a CPO model.

wife picked up a 17 Expedition last year with about 35k miles for $27 grand
She loves it, there was no way she was paying north of 40 for a used Tahoe

Can get a fairly recent used Subaru Outback, Forester
If it was me, I'd be looking at one of these or a CR-V. Maybe a rav4
