your dad should have trained you to be able to replace a simple water heater. Just remember a metal drip pan required for gas, plastic okey for electric.

In November of 22, I bought a replacement one at Home Depot and put it in the attic.
The Rheam water heater, plumbing and gas fittings were from 1962, didn’t match current connections and nothing was up to code.
So I decided that was out of my comfort zone. I paid a master plumber $700 to do the install. Worth every penny.
I’ve changed electric ones before. But not this time.

Most water heaters, mine included, are run with copper pipe.
