I was checking out new grills over the weekend and noticed a few infrared ones. They’re a bit more expensive but not by much really.

Your thoughts?

My dad does. I've only used it a couple time, but it was nice.

I have a charbroil brand. It cooks really well, but if you don’t turn on every burner then the pan won’t get hot enough.

I use one occasionally when not using my charcoal weber. I can hang family packs of chicken and smoke them. They come out great. I've also "fried" a turkey in it and use it for all my pork butts.

I have a counter top no oil fryer that I think works similar? I do chicken with it. Fool proof. Moist and tasty like rotisserie.

I have one from Sabre. For gas grills, you can't beat them. Cooks much much faster and more even, and I think a better taste than regular gas. It's still not as good taste wise as coal, but it will get your food off the grill and on the table way faster than you thought possible.

Had one. Bottom pan rusted out. Replaced with a steel pan.

It was ok. Nothing special. When it died, I replaced it with a Primo. I like the Primo a lot more.

I have an infrared burner. It's great for putting a finish char on a steak.

Just get a set of these and replace the standard grates on a regular gas grill. They seriously work...

My last two grills have done this...within 2 years of purchase. Did you have a new pan fabricated?

Awesome for steaks. Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, High heat sear for 3 mins per side and you have a steak as good as most restaurants.

Gets a little too hot for traditional BBQ. Hit the grill with a non stick coating and sear chicken, burgers, etc for a few mins at low to med heat, then finish on the top rack.

It's a good grill if you are a steak snob. I keep a small Weber kettle for those times i want charcoal.

I’ve had two and it’s great for a gas grille. Minimal flare up, cooks really fast, and can seat the meat very well. It can also burn/char the outside pretty quickly if you’re not paying attention/drinking.

The bottom grate of the grille system will rust out and fail. I’ve had to replace them in both of my grilles. The new design with the corrugated piece is much better than the flat perforated one.

I'd love to have one of these. I'd use it more than any green egg or anything. Just don't know if I'd use it $1200 worth though.
