Have one for about 6 months. Still experimenting but I agree with some of the other posters in that it isn't coal or wood, but the trade-off is very hot, juicy and even cooking, with no flare ups. It heats very fast and is really no more of a hassle then using the stove in the kitchen. It prob use it 3-4 days per week. Cleaning is not that difficult as long as you stay on top of it.

Got one for the camp, the cook(he owns the camp) loved it so we got I'm one too.
Heats up fast and uses less propane. If he's happy, we're happy.
The prices have skyrocketed on them.

I have one and found it can get pretty dirty if you deal with any wet marinades or BBQ sauce

Other than that, its the best char a gas grill can provide

Have a now 3 yr. old charbroil infrared....it worked quite well for about ONE YEAR.....infrared grates are almost impossible to thoroughly clean...even with a pressure washer ! They must utilize the lowest grade SS along with temp gauges, burners and fire box fittings...all went to hell w/in 2 years and although charbroil replace SOME of these parts, this seldom used grill is about done for !

I have the Char broil professional or commercial or whatever Infrared.

Complete POS. You’ll never get the infrared grates clean. They rot out in a year or two. Had to replace all 3 burners at 3 years (again, totally rotted out). It’s now 5 years old and it’s about time to toss it. Not sure it’ll make it until fall. Some parts get really hot, some areas would be ok to warm something up. Would not buy again.

Just get a set of these and replace the standard grates on a regular gas grill. They seriously work...
My whole grill is rusted through etc, it's done. I need a new complete set up.

I had a small Weber and I really enjoyed it. I got rid of it last for a 5 burner gas grill. I wish still had it. It was perfect for steaks, burgers, and sausage.

I agree with bitch to clean. Mine is a Kenmore so cant verify pos remark

I started putting an extension and a wire wheel brush on my corded drill. (guessing 1000+ rpms?) It works pretty damn well. They don’t look new but they are pretty damn clean.

I rinse them thoroughly afterwards of course.

I have one and I hate it. I took out those pans a long time ago now I just use it like a normal pit.

Oh hell yes. This ^ X1000. When brand new it works great a few times. But you have to clean after every single use. Not just run a wire brush over it. Like damn near soak it in soapy water, hit it with a high pressure hose, use steel wool and scrub, etc. Then replace, get it really hot, then coat with cooking oil to prevent rust. If you don't it won't cook. Not worth all the damn trouble and it still flares up.

I have an infrared burner. It's great for putting a finish char on a steak.

This is interesting. I have never heard of anyone putting a finish char on steak. I always char it first to seal the juices and prevent them from seeping out during the cook. I will have to try this ending char this weekend.

As for infrared, given the amazing quickness you can get a charcoal grill hot (less than seven minutes), I do not see the reason for gas/infrared, but to each his/her own.

I have that same grill. Exact problems. Won't go cheap again on these things. I prefer my Webber charcoal grill.
