Pretty fascinating case.

Basically, a seemingly normal 34 year old husband and father of 2 snapped and killed his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts and 2 young daughters, Cece and Bella.

The police have released body cam footage of the first search of the house and their first interactions with Chris.

Here is a 41 minute bodycam video of the first search.

In that video, you can see him arriving back to his house, entering through his garage and being unaccounted for about 60-90 seconds before he gets to the front door to let the officer in. Some people think he was using those seconds to hastily hide Shanann's phone under a couch cushion and plant her wedding ring on the dresser to make it seem like she left him.

Here is footage of his next door neighbor showing CCTV footage of him backing up his truck into his garage to police and Chris.
He is loading the bodies of the 3 deceased into the bed of his work truck in the footage, but you cant actually see him physically loading the bodies. You can see how nervous Chris is as he watches the video, and it almost seems like he doesnt know if the CCTV footage will pick up him actually carrying the bodies and is bracing himself for that moment.

Worst part of the story is how he disposed of his children. He stuffed them in oil tanks at his work site. He buried Shannan in a shallow grave near by.

He never gave the reason why he killed Shanann and his 2 kids. He was having an affair in the months leading up to the murders, and was becoming increasing distant from Shanann. In the weeks leading up to her death, she was texting friends about how Chris was acting different.

I dont think people will ever know what happened that night. Was it premediated? Probably, but not extremely planned out. To me, it seems like he wanted to live a new life with the girlfriend, and being the fricking dumbass he is, he got the idea that he could kill them and hide their bodies, report them as missing, and that was it. I dont think he really understood how suspicous this would have looked to police. Either way, its hard to imagine how a father can smother his own 2 children for 2-3 minutes each. Sickening. He deserves to rot in prison. frick the death penalty. Put this guy in isolation the rest of his life.

Sociopathic Madness. He was destroying his life. He was erasing his decisions. It was a reset button for him. Narcissism extremis.

Yes, I actually kind of been following this.

It's crazy.

He suggested to her that they have another child, thinking it would help their marriage that had been shaky.

In April of this year, after having trouble in their marriage, she reached out to a lawyer friend asking about separation and divorce.

In May she finds out she is pregnant. In August, I guess after he started messing around with another woman, he decides he didn't want another baby.. And I guess he felt that it would be harder for them to split up at that point because she was pregnant so he killed her and their 2 kids.

I haven’t followed the case closely, but I think the husband was having an affair, was active on dating sites, and was known to be a bit of a psycho at times.

That's what I don't get about this guy.

Of course you never know what is going through people's minds, but this guy really did seem to completely change within months. By all accounts he seemed to be a good dad, etc..

I just can't imagine how you could appear to be an affectionate father with two young daughters then end up killing both along with their the wife/mother.

Thats a video of Chris playing with his kids in May. Yea, he seems a little awkward, but he looks like a completely normal dude. Ive been watching videos about this case non stop the past few days. Its perplexing.

I fricking hate this sick frick. Im usually not the first to say it but I’m very glad Colorado has the death penalty and I’d be depressed if they don’t get to use it on him.

Literally one of the worst ideas ever concocted by women and shes not the first woman to think this, nor will she be the last. Stupid on so many levels and hurts the kid as well.

I read an article that described the lacerations and bruises his daughters had from struggling to breathe, now every time I see a picture of their sweet, smiling faces it fills me with a sense of rage.

That a-hole deserves a death filled of unfathomable pain and agony.

Well, you’re going to be depressed. His plea deal took the death penalty off the table. Hopefully someone in prison takes matters in to their own hands.

Watts pleaded guilty in November in Colorado court to first-degree murder and other charges in the death of his wife and young daughters. He was sentenced to five life sentences with no possibility of parole.

He has already made a plea deal for life in prison. Evidently, his wife's family requested the death penalty be taken off the table.

I assume, at first, he will be put in maximum security where they are alone in a cell 23 hours a day. If he eventually gets reclassified, due to good behavior, he probably better stay out of general population.

Christopher Watts, 33, was transferred to Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wis., on Dec. 3. Watts was moved out of Colorado for safety reasons.

The police released a 2,000 page evidence document, and in that document the people who had to retrieve the bodies from the tanks described how they had injuries from him having to push them into the tiny hatches, and how their backs were sticking to the floor in the oil tank. It made me sick to my stomach.

Bad deal by the DA. I don’t care what anyone says. Spend the time, and the money to get him where he belongs. Take the risk. Whatever.
