I lived in Hatcher Hall on the 4th floor in the 70’s. No A/C, no fan, no elevator except the old freight elevator in the back of the building. It was brutal!

Pentagon C-2 10.
Nestled behind a tree and no direct sunlight. Had a 50's era Westinghouse fan in the window that kicked azz, while I hard-legged Graham girls headed to the cafeteria from my perch in the other window.

Things were pretty lax in Highland Hall. The back door stayed cracked open
This brought back some memories, thanks.

I lived there fall ‘79. Hatcher definitely had AC….it’s the only reason why it was on the top of my preference list.

I lived there in 87, definitely had AC.

I don't remember anything ever being locked when I went to LSU

It had ac in 75 and Power opened to guys that same fall and it was the best dorm for men atthat time.

I have no idea why someone would spend the money to go to college, but live in a dorm with no AC.
And I have no idea why someone would go tens of thousands of dollars into debt for a diploma from LSU.
Some of us worked our way through college and would rather spend the money on beer rather than AC.
in the 80s I spent 1 year in North Stadium Dormitory and 4 years (including 3 summers) on the 3rd floor of Lejeune Hall, all with no AC. You get used to it.

It did in 78 when I was there

I was in the Pentagon in 1985/1986 (The GON!) It did not have AC nor did Hodges Hall. Hatcher did have AC and a better cafeteria than the one the Pentagon and Kirby Smith shared.

I was an RA in Hatcher fall ‘85 to Spring ‘88
You may have known my buddy who was an RA in hatcher at that time, Rich originally from philly. He used to tell us stories about all the shite that went on there.

They tore Power down and built the East Campus Apartments there. It was made of (7) 2 story buildings so you didn't have to go past a front desk to get to your room. That had certain benefits. There were stand up water fountains in each hall, but they got knocked over by drunks once a month or so and flooded the buildings. You also had to have your own shower head and bring it with you each time you showered because they never had any in the showers. My parents came to the dorm one time, my mother was mortified by the trash, beer cans and chicken bones littered in the hall and they never came back. Great memories there!

had a friend who started at LSU in 1982. At the time, all freshmen who didn’t come from Baton Rouge had to stay in the dorms. In 1982, they didn’t have enough dorm rooms. Therefore, he (and MANY other freshmen) had to stay at that motel down Nicholson (towards downtown) his freshman year - arranged for by LSU.
The Prince Murat Motel. I remember that. I was in West Laville that year and pissed they got an a/c hotel while we sweated with no air.

Don't know about the 80s, but I lived there in the early 60s and it definitely was not air conditioned.

I lived in Power in the late 80s. They had a really weird RA with a butt cut who told the biggest bullshite stories.

Perfect location next to the stadium. I had a second floor room behind a fire door. I couldn’t hear anything going on in the rest of the building. It was perfect.
If I could still live there, I would.
When was this? We were in 216 fall 85 and spring 86 and it was like our own little suite behind that fire door.
