The League, an exclusive, invite-only dating app for aspiring power couples, will launch today (October 9) in New Orleans at noon.
The League says the app caters to the intelligent, educated, and ambitious. The company handpicked the first 506 users in New Orleans based on degree, education institution, professional title, industry, and more.
Only roughly 10% of the 3022 applicants were accepted, all with an average age of 28.2. From the selected, the top employers are Tulane Medical Center, Shell, and Teach for America. Tulane, LSU, and Loyola are the three most represented schools among the group. The League told Silicon Bayou News that the users primarily live in Uptown, the Lower Garden District, and Mid-City, and that the most popular job titles are analyst, attorney, and physician.
The app is now available in over 35 cities and continually adding new locations.
“Think of The League as a members only club, but one with a killer singles scene,” explains The League’s founder and CEO, Amanda Bradford. “We’re a community for intelligent, ambitious and high-achieving people that are looking for an equal partner.”
After the waiting list joins the app, others can join for a membership fee. Learn more about The League at theleague.com.

Are convenience store clerk, disabled, and social media professional some of the least popular job titles included?

It was good at first in Dallas. They eventually loosened the quality standards and dropped off significantly.

Do they have a special app for non-motivated people that like to drink and play video games?

The self-important douchebag quotient for those who see themselves as this sort of elite is probably pretty high, and the truly elite probably don't need this app.
But let's look a bit closer:
* "[I]nvite-only dating app" but "3022 applicants"--which is it, by invitation only, or can you apply? Because the more elite things of which I'm aware mostly don't even take applications, you have to be proposed by one or often more than one existing member.
* "The company handpicked the first 506 users in New Orleans ...," but "Only roughly 10% of the 3022 applicants were accepted"--so they're not too elite at math, as 10% of 3022 is 302, and 506 is 17% of 3022. Or maybe more likely, they're not too elite at honesty.

Many of these kids have a north east education and come from wealthy families. They use TfA as a stepping stone for law school, med school ect.
