There have to be some good stories out there when a company has such a wild ride in such a short time. Blew up into a billion dollar company and now looks to be just holding on.

Pretty sure the types that founded WAITR aren't the baw type.

Drew ‘Knees’ Brees was a big investor at the beginning.

I know the founder’s daughter and son in law. Good people and they didn’t act differently afterwards. Good family.

I was a driver for Waitr for a few months. Really cool in theory, but it’s just not a great way to make a living. Especially with having to fight Baton Rouge traffic all day.

ETA: I still have the insulated food bag. I use it to pick up pizza when I order one.

Yeah, his son was in my pledge class at LSU. Had an upper level finance class where we did some excel projects based on waitr's financials and the Professor just shat on the company and my friend's dad for like 3 classes. Eventually he talked to the teacher after one class and the teacher apologized so much lol.

Professor was one of the original investors in waitr and was one of founders of Stonehenge Capital.

The founder gave a speech to my fraternity back when they were really rolling and said they were considering selling. They sold to Fertita (slimy Houston Rockets owner) shortly thereafter.

Not surprised they’re losing steam, Fertita is a total fricktard.

Yes. I knew a guy involved in the beginning and didn’t love him. Probably means the real brains behind it were excellent people.

They had a good spot working within small markets and non-chain restaurants. I think their fees were initially lower than Uber Eats and Door dash too. Seems like the business market was to hold on until a big company bought them out for the small markets.
