My child hit a parked car. Damage to a 2015 Nissan Rogue estimated at 6k.

Theres some damage to our car too—just cosmetic.

They insisted on going thru insurance so it’s already reported. Is there any benefit to NOT getting the damage on our car fixed, other than not having to pay the deductible?

Or since it’s already been reported, we may as well get it fixed?

Not sure about the answer to your question... but

quote:

A used 2015 Nissan Rogue typically costs between $8,000 and $13,000

Repairs coming close to the full value of the car.

If insurance already knows about it, go ahead and file the claim.

Also will diminish the trade in value of whatever they are driving when they go to trade in due to a reported wreck on carfax.

File it as a new claim?

1. It's already been reported, your insurance will find out.
2. Legally, you have to report it to your insurance company.

So either way, your insurance company will find out. Get your car fixed.

If the claim as been filed on your insurance (by you or the parked car owner) then the claim is already open. No need to file a second claim for your damages, should be handled under the claim already reported.

Clearly anecdotal, but my son(but I told the insurance it was me) backed into my wife's car, so they had to pay to fix two, and my rates didn't go up.
