Just be yourself and be honest. Outside of that pay attention and think before you answer. They are a great group of men and you will thoroughly enjoy the fellowship.

I live about a half mile away from a Mason Lodge.
I know a few Masons, they are all older guys.
You will not find out much information here. The only way to know more about them is to become one.

Be honest.
The main reason you meet with a committee prior to is to see if you have any questions or concerns and for them to answer those questions. Also, from your questions, and their answers, you'll see if you have a conflict with Masonic beliefs or practices.
Nothing you can practice, just be honest. These guys ain't on a witch hunt trying to trip you up, believe me. If you are married and your wife is around, they'll answer her questions as well.

I don't know for sure, but they seem to help raise money for certain charities. From time to time they have a money raising event at the lodge I live by, but it seems like it might be done on a local level.
It seems to always be for a person who is sick or someone who might have lost everything (in a fire or whatever).

Tell the guy who invited you to join that it's your opinion that the Pope isn't head of the Whore of All the Earth and that in inviting you...

Seek that's easy, join a Country Club and learn to play golf. If you end up sucking at golf, just sit at the bar and enjoy a cold beer.

I was in the underground society of balls and shaft

Ask one to be one.
You have to be recommended by another mason. A mason will come to your house and interview you, then they decide if you can join.
